Sarge is stunningly beautiful and one of the sweetest, most affectionate, and devoted companions you’ll ever meet! Following life as a stray and rescue from an overcrowded rural shelter, he entered foster care and a new beginning. Sarge cried most of the first week but has adjusted well and doing fine ever since. He is crazy about treats, walks, belly rubs, and exploring new places. Most of all, he loves being with his person and bonds very closely. He is very smart and eager to learn, great on leash, treat motivated, and house trained. He enjoys getting brushed; has no issues with nail trims, ear cleanings, or baths; and perfectly mannered at the vet. Sarge is reserved around other dogs and interested in chasing small animals so may be best as the one and only. As he gets deeply attached, he is working through separation anxiety with a departing routine with re-entries. He is dependable without crating but will likely need time to adapt again in his forever home. He will be at his best if he continues socializing, training/learning, and building confidence. He also needs lots of together time, as his person is his world. He is quiet and rarely barks but always communicates. Everyone who meets Sarge is taken with him--he is a treasure who deserves to be treated like the best friend he is for the rest of his life.
