Sarge is a sweet, affectionate, and devoted companion. Following life as a stray and rescue from an overcrowded rural shelter, he entered foster care and new beginning. Sarge cried most of the first week but has settled in since. He is obsessed with playing ball. Other favorites include treats, walks, car rides anywhere, belly rubs, and being outside. He is smart, treat motivated, great on leash, and house trained. He is good with grooming, including nail trims, ear cleanings, and baths; and well-mannered at the vet. He was initially guarded around other dogs and not a dog park type but good with slow introductions although competitive at home. He has a high prey drive and not compatible with cats or other small animals. Sarge worked through separation anxiety with a departing routine and will likely need the same in his forever home. Sarge will be his best with continued socialization, exercise, and boundaries. He is medium energy but very active and needs challenges and things to do to channel it.
