Our beloved Sahara passed away peacefully at our home with all the love around her. We are devastated, but also feel good the way she was able to pass over to her next life. Sahara will always be in our hearts. We were lucky to have had her in our life. She gave us infinite love, always.

Dear Virginia German Shepherd Rescue, I am contacting you because I just wanted to say Thank you. I know I thanked you back in December 2012 when Rosy first came into our lives, but I need to say it again as Rosy recently (April 24, 2019) crossed the Rainbow Bridge due to bloat.

She was seriously the perfect girl for Neil and me. So loving and sweet and beautiful and the exact temperament and energy as her humans. A few years ago she developed a condition that required a surgery to have all her nails removed and required monthly checkups and several medications (Symmetric Lupoid Onychodystrophy / SLO), and we were so glad she was part of our family so that we could love her and take care of her through those trials, as she had been with us through our own. We got through that and she really got a pep in her step again over the last year or so. In fact, last summer Neil and I decided that we would plan our vacation completely around Rosy while she was feeling young and chipper. We traveled through the Shenandoah and West Virginia and North Carolina to stay in barns and yurts and in the woods so that she could hike until her heart was content. She LOVED LOVED LOVED hiking with us! So we went as much as we could as a family.

But on April 24, she bloated sometime in the middle of the night. We have been so very sad and at times lost without her, but at the same time so grateful that she was part of our lives for so long - almost 7 years. She was so loving and loyal. There will never be another soul like her. Thanks for all you do.     Rachel (and Neil) Ghadiali

RIP 9/11/2008 - 1/15/21
Sasha came into rescue in 2014, was adopted and brought back into foster three times and finally passed in her sleep while with her last foster. Though she had different owners and fosters and lived in different. homes, she was a loyal and loving soul to the end. She could be a couch potato or a backyard hunter, looking for deer and wildlife...she always loved her people and was full of life until the end.

Sammie adopted me on April 3, 2005 and was by my side until the day God called her home.  She was my guardian, my exercise buddy, my playmate, my alarm clock, my best friend.  She made me laugh, she comforted me when I was sad.  She taught me perseverance, courage, compassion, forgiveness and most of all, how to love unconditionally.  I will forever be grateful for her loyal companionship and the precious time we spent together.  She was a very special gift from God and I was truly honored that he chose me to accompany her on her earthly journey.  I miss her everyday but take comfort in knowing she has passed through the gates of the Rainbow Bridge where she runs and plays freely.  I hope that when it is my time she will be there to accompany me where we will be reunited for eternity.

I love you Sammie and will cherish the memories until we meet again. Paula

8/10/15  Schatze passed away August 10, 2015, in White Stone, VA at the Bayside Pet Hospital. She experienced a neurological episode earlier, Sunday, August 9 while kenneled at the Bayside Pet Emporium in White Stone. She was ten years old, born May 9, 2005. I received Schatze as an adoption from VGSR on September 3, 2011. 

She was a true friend every day I spent with her. She was smart, considerate and obedient. I was fortunate to be with her for a few years.     John Pace
