4/28/16  Zara is an extremely happy girl who loves people and does very well with other dogs. She has visited the Alzheimer's facility with us on Pet Therapy Day and was excellent with the residents and staff alike. She particularly loves men, but anyone who will love her will do!! Her tail is always wagging like a helicopter. We've been calling her Dixie since sometimes she responds to that and doesn't know who Zara is. Since her puppies have weaned, she is extremely healthy and vibrant. She loves to snuggle or go for a walk. She is very smart and learns fast. 

This little girl is short and may be a mix herself. Her coat is very short and smooth and she has big round eyes that gaze at you lovingly. She would love a family who will adore her and let her spend as much time as possible with them. She would be great for a retired family too. Not too sure about cats because she loves to chase squirrels up trees. It would probably depend on the cat, but no guarantees. She was a young mother and has many years of love to give.

Update 2/28-29/2016  I just wanted to happily announce that Zara 4356 (who only answers to “Dixie”) has successfully whelped 12 - that’s right, a dozen beautiful puppies!

She was a first time mom and the first puppy came very unexpectedly and scared her to death and surprised all of us. She yelped and ran across the room dragging the puppy behind her. Then she settled into her whelping area and learned the ropes quickly. She did have one out in the back yard when I took her out for potty time. I’m not even sure she knew what happened. Glad I had a flashlight!  All puppies are looking good. She may need some help to feed that large crew, but she’s a trooper and seems quite relieved that the long ordeal is finally over with (she’s not the only one). 

We have 9 males and 3 females! Adopters will have to have fences and the time to raise a puppy :)  Daddy is unknown. 

2/18/16  Zara is a lovely smaller girl who thinks her name is Dixie or Trixie or Pixie or Roxie or anything that sounds like that. She is very full of puppies right now and we will soon be surprised with her babies, but when is still a mystery.  She probably wishes they would come soon since she is so miserable right now.

This girl loves everyone and does well with my other GSDs. If they get too close, she gives them a gentle growl and they move away. She is quiet right now and I'm sure after her puppies come, she will brighten up some.
