Did you ever meet a girl named Charlie; not Charlotte or Charlene, just Charlie? Well you have now! But don’t let the name fool you - I’m a beautiful, long legged girl.
I don’t remember much before arriving at my foster family’s house but I’ve heard them talking. It seems that the humans I lived with before took me to a kennel so they could go on vacation and then never came back. They just left me there.
Although I’m getting a little better every day I’m not comfortable with strangers, particularly men. My step-mom tells me every day what a good girl I am and my step-dad knows I’m still a little scared of him so he’s always super gentle with me. I’m ok with my step-dad when my mom’s not around but if she’s home I like to keep things just between us. I think I might be a one-person kind of girl although I don’t mind my two odd looking step-sisters at all. (They’re something called cats)
My step-parents have been doing a great job looking after me. When I first got here they noticed that I limped a lot and took me to this nice lady doc who told them I have some problems with my hips and knees but everybody went right to work helping me feel better. They decided that I deserve special food so I get all the vitamins and stuff I need and I get a couple pills every day and a shot once a month
(I don’t mind at all) and am feeling SO much better it’s amazing. I’m still a bit stiff first thing in the morning and I can’t jump up into the family truck but I do just fine with a bit of help. And once I’m inside I stretch out on the back seat and watch the sights go by.
When I’m not being chauffeured about town I like to go on walks (I’m great on a leash!), chase lizards and frogs around the back yard, play with my squeak toys and just act goofy. And I always keep mom company on the porch where she likes to read and I like to nap. But even when I’m asleep I sound the alarm if someone gets close; being the German Shepherd of the house is serious business.
New places and people scare me but I’m working really hard on building my confidence. Mom says I have a very shy demeanor but behind that is a ton of personality. If you have lots of time to spend letting me get to know you maybe we can meet for a walk in the park.
Patient approved adopters, please contact my foster mom.
