Dr. Finkelstein has been with his foster family for about four months now. He is from North Carolina where he was saved from a shelter after being returned twice.  Dr. Finkelstein is about two years old and a big teddy bear. Currently he is undergoing heartworm treatment and will not be available for adoption until later this year.

He lives with three other dogs and gets along with them well. He sometimes does not realize how big he is and can plow over you, so a home with little children might not be good. He lives with two feline friends and has a little too much interest in them but does not hurt them.

Dr. Finkelstein knows basic commands and is very good on a leash. He also loves to ride in the car! At first he was scared but now I pull out the leash and he is running towards the door! He has come a long way from having night terrors almost nightly to sleeping soundly on his dog bed next to ours. He does however have severe anxiety of being in a confined space such as one room or a crate. When we leave the house he has free roam and is a gentleman. He lounges around and plays with his bin full of toys most of the day. Toys are a must to have or bones to chew on, as he will chew up non- doggy things if there are no toys around. Though he is learning the difference between what he can chew and what he cannot!

He also loves the water, we have a plastic baby pool and he will bob for ice cubes when it is frozen and jump in it when it is warm! He loves to be outside but only when you are with him otherwise he will cuddle on the couch with you all afternoon.

Dr. Finkelstein needs a home that will give him exercise or have a fenced yard. No little children and lots of cuddles! He also has great recall and picks up on commands quickly.
