1/9/15 Skylar has been released from care after her TPLO surgery with an excellent report! She is to start slowly exercising again and will now be available for adoption! 11/13/14 Skylar's surgery went very well. She had a bit more knee damage than expected, but all cleaned up well and the surgery was deemed a complete success. Now for the road to recovery!
10/10/14 Skylar 3942 was picked up as a stray in Roanoke VA. After her stray hold was over she had just over 12 hours to leave the pound and escape euthanasia due to a torn CCL. Many volunteers worked very hard all night and at the last minute VGSR was able to get her to safety. She was immediately vetted and started on physical therapy. This approximately four year old GSD mix is extremely sweet, loves to cuddle on the couch, bed or just at your feet. She has never met a stranger and her eyes just melt you. She is a very well mannered girl who loves children, other dogs and probably cats.
Dr. Bachelez, a surgeon from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, Roanoke Satellite Office evaluated Skylar and determined TPLO (
tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy)
surgery is what she needs so she will be able to use her leg again. This surgery is very expensive and requires expert post operative care. Skylar has a heart of gold and would love to be free of pain and use her four legs again. Please consider donating to the cost of her surgery.
Please consider sponsoring Skylar's medical needs. Her surgery and recovery will be costly and any help is appreciated.
