We are pleased to introduce our gentle Duchess. She is a spayed female GS, classic tan and black, petite. She is a low energy, calm, and a very tolerant girl. She is even-tempered, and is very quiet in the house. She would probably make a great therapy dog, having excellent manners and gentle nature. She never jumps and greets people quietly and respectfully. She lives now with a cat and 2 little kids. She mainly ignores the kids, but shows some interest in the cat. As long as the cat leaves her alone and introductions are supervised, Duchess is fine. She greets dogs outside nicely and calmly. We have a few neighbors who let their dogs loose in their front yards, and even though those dogs are generally bully-like, Duchess behaves like a real lady and we can walk past them without an incident.

She is a joy to walk, she never pulls but stays right by my side. She knows basic commands, and does the best when a treat is close at hand. We do not crate her, but she had been crated before and did fine. She stays home for extended periods of time every day, and does not have any accidents or destructive behavior. She is not food or toy aggressive. Not knowing me well, she allowed me to bathe her and touch her paws, look at her teeth without complains. She groans sometimes when i tell her to go lay down during family dinners, but she does it anyway.

She is very submissive, and she looks up to her people for direction and approval. She does not shy away from new situations though, trusting her humans to take care of her well-being. Because of her trusting nature, she would not be a good guard dog, loving all people like dear friends.

She would do well in any home, but perhaps would be best in a low-key setting. She is ok with an hour or two of walking, with the rest of the time spent laying close to her family. She prefers her soft doggy bed to the floor, so that must come with her to the new house.


She is UTD on her shots and is ready to make someone’s family complete.
