Everybody, meet Tripp. This beautiful boy was found as a stray in North Carolina. He was picked up by a generous soul who worked at a local vet. After spending 6 days in a kennel run at the vet clinic, he came into our foster care. He is very timid meeting new people, but will warm up nicely with familiarity and seems to show more interest in children, sniffing them first and not the adults. He has been with us for 3 days, and we are starting to see more personality and confidence come through around the house – still shy on walks. He is a very laid back, calm boy, who will lay quietly at your feet until you get up to do something.

Tripp does very well in the car, it was over 3 hours from the vet to our house and he was perfect the entire trip. He does exceptionally well with cats, ignoring them for the most part. He also does well with other dogs, but is taking some time to warm up to the idea of play. He has gone after a ball a few times, but other than that, does not seem to have an interest in toys. I have no doubt that our 3 year old GSD will help show him the ropes in that area.

Tripp is currently very underweight, but we are working to put some meat on his bones. He has a healthy appetite, and loves treats, so he should start filling out in no time. He is a gobbler, but will wait patiently until you tell him it’s ok to begin eating. So far, we have started associating him with the clicker to begin training basic commands. He is smart, but will need somebody who can continue his basic training. He is house trained, walks well on a leash, and is getting better about going into the crate. He is fine to sleep through the night on his bed outside the crate, but it’s still unknown how he would do if left alone. Although he exhibits no signs or symptoms, he did test positive for Lyme disease and Ehrlichiosis, and is on a 28 day cycle of preventive meds.

Tripp would make an excellent, loving addition to a family by himself or with other playmates – he just needs somebody to love him, and he will give it back ten-fold.
