Bolt is the most wonderful dog. He listens and obeys very well. He is not currently leash trained. This is because he has been crate bound, first for 7 weeks and is currently crate bound for another two weeks. This is because before he was even one year old he was hit by a car. His owner at the time decided that the best course of treatment was to tie him up in the back yard. Because of the accident, Bolt suffered a broken leg, a cracked femur and his hip was dislocated. Because of the pain, Bolt learned how to run on three legs. Bolt’s first surgery was to fix the leg that had healed wrong. That is the reason for being crate bound for 7 weeks. His next surgery was to replace his hip. Unfortunately the socket that holds the ball of his femur was too thin to hold a hip in place. This made it so the vet had to remove the ball on top of his upper leg bone and move the leg in a position that will hold the bone in a more proper position. He has endured a lot of pain and disfigurement, but he is in no way unhappy. He is very playful, loves to play fetch (although he is reluctant to give the toy to us to throw again). My husband has taught him to bring in the paper! This was just before his first surgery. He loves to chase our cat. But if he is close to her, and she does not run away, he will try to give her one of his toys, sniff her or just stare at her waiting for her to do something. Sometimes the cat will just be annoyed with him but will stand her ground. The cat is the one that is not really other animal friendly! But Bolt still keeps on trying! Out in the yard he loves to chase a stick. He will get the stick and prance around the yard as if he had won the best prize ever! He will sit, come, lie down and go into his crate on command. He is currently not up for adoption and I am not sure is he will be soon. My family absolutely adores Bolt! And I believe that whoever gets him will do the same.
