My name is Chevy and how I have come in VGSR is a sit down, have some popcorn kind of story. I strayed away from my home and almost got hit. So the lady behind the wheel stopped and picked me so I would be safe. This lady works for my foster mom and asked her to take me as she could not keep me. She didn’t want to drop me off at a shelter as I am huge. My foster mom posted my bio on Craigslist and Lost & Found VA FB hoping to find my owners. My real momma saw the post and replied, hoooray, I was going home.
My foster mom took me back to my home, where she learned about my situation. My grand mother is terminally ill and the nurses are afraid of me. My momma was bouncing me around from home to home as she was looking for a place to rent that would allow me to stay. I am very intimidating due to my size. Then my foster mom explained to my momma about VGSR, and how I would stay with her until the right home came up. My mom surrendered me to VGSR and here I am. I am still a wee bit confused but I am adjusting really well. My momma has had me since I was a puppy and this was hard, but I understand. She wanted what is best for me.
Now a little about me. I am not a in your face kind of guy. I am very aloof. I will miss you when you leave but I am very comfortable laying around watching you. I don't really play with other dogs. I just sniff them and go about my business. Every now and then, I try to dominate my foster brother but my foster mom corrects me. I ignore my foster sister, she is alpha and I know better than to mess with her. The cat and I are on sniffing terms, I do not chase her. I am very good with cats.
I am Ok with a walk around the neighborhood. My foster mom tried to bike with me, but that was a wee bit too much for me. I want to sniff every thing, not run. My foster mom states I need a little bit more leash training, as I am used to wandering on my own.
I am left out when my foster mom leaves for work. I keep an eye on the house and lay around. I don’t tear any thing up. I whine for awhile but then I settle down.
I have a severe ear infection that my foster mom is monitoring. I get drops every day to fight the infection, and my foster mom cleans out my ears every other day. I struggle with her over this but I know it is best for me. I also have an allergy reaction on my rump, and I need a special bath to that area every other day to help clear that up. After a few weeks of this treatment I should be at 100%.
Over all, I am great huge guy who needs additional training. My foster mom is working with me on that. I get so focused on my sniffing that I don't listen. I do like to wander so no off leash for me.
