Hey folks, Trooper here! My life started as Bubba, and after several years with my original owner, I was taken to the vet to be put to sleep. You see, I have a few medical conditions my human did not want to deal with. But the vet refused to euthanize me and instead found a regime that keeps me comfortable while still being affordable. They also gave me my present name, and I suspect it is because through it all, I kept a really good attitude, did not complain, and was grateful for receiving a new lease on life. After several months with the vet, VGSR stepped in to give me another chance at a forever home. In spite of my difficult past, I am a really easygoing, mellow senior dog with impeccable house manners. I will tell you up front that I can not do a lot of stairs (a few steps are ok) and do need a feline free environment and
some medical maintenance. On the upside, my exercise needs are modest and all I want is to be by your side, feel your closeness and receive the occasional pet. A chew toy or a ball every once in a while would be nice too, but I will be content just being near you. My foster dad says I have the temperament of a therapy dog and several people at the dog park commented about how devoted to him I am even after only one day of being in foster care. I do not react much to other dogs, even those who are a little on the exuberant side and like to make friends with all humans willing to give me the least bit of attention and kindness. Take me in your home, and I will find my way to your heart.
