Hi there! My name is Toby, and I'm having an identity crisis and am in need of a career counselor. Every working dog needs a job, especially a Husky/Shepherd mix like me. I'm a teenager now, and it's time to start thinking about my future plans in life. I've narrowed down a few careers that I like, but my foster mom isn't too happy with my choices right now. I try to practice at each one a little bit (some a lot) every day so I can be multi-talented and well rounded. First, I'm training to be a marathon runner. Yup, I l-o-v-e to run. Mom says I have more energy than the Energizer bunny. If I don't run HARD each day for at least two hours I get really antsy 'cuz you need to practice to succeed at this job. When that happens I cry a lot, chase my tail, and get very ADD. Mom's been trying to get me used to a treadmill for the days she is busy, but I prefer outside with her. Next I'm training to be a landscaper. Whenever Mom's not looking, I try to make her happy by aerating her flower beds, pulling up weeds from the grass, and trimming the hedges. I don't know why she doesn't seem to like it? I also want to be an WWF Wrestler! What boy doesn't? I try to show of my bodacious moves to every dog I meet. Some are wrestlers too, but the cats, smaller dogs, and old farts get really mad. I try ALL day to get them to practice with me, but they don't like being pestered and get snappy with me. Bummer. Lastly, I want to train to be an opera singer. I think I'm doing pretty good, but the neighbors complain that I am off key and too loud. My favorite time to practice is when Mom leaves for work, or first thing in the morning. Yup, I'm like Mom's own personal alarm clock at 5:00 am every day when I sing my scales. My foster Mom says that I should use my skills elsewhere, like land mushing, agility, or helping someone train for a marathon. I need a lot of help guiding me into the stellar adult I can be. They have to be patient, have as much energy as me, and be able to devote a lot of attention and time each day to me. I guess you can call me high maintenance. But I'll reward you with all the kisses and cuddles you can handle if you can put up with my identity crisis.
