German Shepherd Dog / Mixed : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : Large
Are you looking for a lovable, eager-to-please, beautiful, black-and-tan, female GSD with an endearing personality? Then meet Miss Tall, Thin and Good Looking Shylow? (AKC? of course). She wants to be as close to you as she can, soaking up any and all the attention she can get. Shylows original owner (a breeder) passed away and she was given away by family members to live with a new owner who kept her in an outdoor enclosure all the time. When neighbors complained, she was surrendered to the shelter with flea infestation and ear mites (all cured now) . The vet says she is 10 to 15 pounds underweight at 61 pounds (yes, shes a good-sized girl), but were taking care of that. Shes pretty now, but wait until shes properly filled out and her coat shines, then drop dead gorgeous will describe this high energy love sponge. Shylow will be 3 years old in March. Shes spayed, micro-chipped, crate-trained, and house-trained. She does well with other dogs once introduced, and yes, she likes cats. Shylow loves playing ball, Frisbee, stick, and anything else you want to do, if she cant get foster brother and sister to play, a good romp and run around the backyard will do. When excited she does jump, so a home with older children would be best. Were conducting refresher training on her leash manners, because she is strong and does pull a little. Shylow responds very well to basic obedience commands of sit, down, stay and come, and would do well in advanced obedience or agility training. She has acclimated to the routine of our foster house very quickly, to include the great cookie scam? as demonstrated by her foster brother, the benefits of homemade chicken soup? preparations, and neighborhood surveillance techniques to ensure that no leaf, squirrel, bird or vicious kids go unchallenged. By days end, she still has an abundance of unused energy, but is content to curl up on the floor next to her foster daddy and snooze. Although donations of all types are needed, our primary need is foster homes for our lovely dogs while they wait for their new family to find them. Fostering is an extremely rewarding experience. Vet care is paid for by our rescue, and we can even provide you with food. All YOU need to add is love and security. The adoption process starts with the applicant filling out the adoption application. This can happen at any time during the process, before or after having met a GSD that might be the ideal companion. (It's an advantage to have a pre-approved application on file with VGSR. It should be stressed here that being pre-approved does not mean that any potential adopter can select any available dog at will and take that dog home immediately. VGSR will exercise its best judgement as to which GSD will be the best match for that specific adopter based on a number of qualifying criteria. Many GSDs that come to us are matched up with their new people very quickly because their people have been pre-approved.) The applicant then submits the application form with a non-refundable $10.00 processing fee. VGSR reviews the application, then schedules an interview and home visit during which a number of questions are asked and the home is reviewed to be sure there is a contained/safe yard, and to meet the family involved. Once the application is approved, the applicant is asked to submit a $200.00 donation to VGSR, and the adoption is completed. |
