My life has been turned upside down and I don't understand why, or what I have done. Ive never experienced being in the comfort of a house. I was kept outside in a fenced yard. I dont remember ever going to the vet's as you will find out later. Im only 14 months old, and already a mother of 9 babies. My sons were given away, and myself and my 10-week-old babies were dumped at a shelter. We would huddle in the corner watching dogs go by and never coming back. Our days were numbered at this time. It looked like my day had come when this lady came and took my babies, then I notice she was back and she took me. I noticed that my babies and I werent going the same direction as the other missing dogs went. We were placed in a car. Ok where were we going??? After two long days, we ended up in a place called Virginia. Once we all arrived we were all sick and scared. That night I was given a warm dinner along with a warm bed to sleep on. My foster mom took me to a place that Ive never known about called the vet's office. Here they did blood work, x-rays, and looked me over like Ive never had done before. Well the vet talked a lot to my foster mom and told her that Ive been shot with BB gun (pellets still inside me) as well as having these things called heartworms. As you see I was never given heartworm preventative. Now I have to go thru heartworm treatment. Like I really needed all of this on top of losing my home, being dumped at a shelter, my babies being taken away. I just dont understand life and why people do this. My foster mom says we with get thru this just fine, she has all the faith in the world in me. Currently Im on a high-calorie diet, working on getting meat on my bones, and then Ill start my heartworm treatment. Currently Im not available for adoption, so please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. My foster mom will keep you posted on my progress.

Although donations of all types are needed, our primary need is foster homes for our lovely dogs while they wait for their new family to find them. Fostering is an extremely rewarding experience. Vet care is paid for by our rescue, and we can even provide you with food. All YOU need to add is love and security.

The adoption process starts with the applicant filling out the adoption application. This can happen at any time during the process, before or after having met a GSD that might be the ideal companion. (It's an advantage to have a pre-approved application on file with VGSR. It should be stressed here that being pre-approved does not mean that any potential adopter can select any available dog at will and take that dog home immediately. VGSR will exercise its best judgement as to which GSD will be the best match for that specific adopter based on a number of qualifying criteria. Many GSDs that come to us are matched up with their new people very quickly because their people have been pre-approved.) The applicant then submits the application form with a non-refundable $10.00 processing fee. VGSR reviews the application, then schedules an interview and home visit during which a number of questions are asked and the home is reviewed to be sure there is a contained/safe yard, and to meet the family involved. Once the application is approved, the applicant is asked to submit a $200.00 donation to VGSR, and the adoption is completed.
