Charlie Brown (Fitz) is so looking for a family to call his own. He is an energetic, smart, strong headed, solid 80-85 lb adolescent boy that will need an experienced dog handler to continue his training and establishing  consistent boundaries. He has been e-collar trained on the basics ( sit, down, come, off, place, wait, stay, leave it), walks well on a leash, is crate trained and housebroken.  He tries hard to please but being an adolescent he sometimes has difficulty focusing on his fosters commands.   He is EXTREMELY food driven and will do anything for a treat, but will also try to counter surf if given the chance ( an example of him being too smart for his own good and testing boundaries)
 

He is indifferent to cats most of the time, but will try to engage them in play when he is extra frisky. Fitz is enthusiastic when meeting new dogs oftentimes coming off too strong setting the stage for conflict.  He enjoys rough boisterous play with other dogs so may not be a good match for more timid or laid back dogs.  

He requires slow and proper introductions to new people, preferring no one reach in and /or touch him until he is comfortable with them.  Once he trusts you, he is extremely affectionate and bonds strongly to his person. 

He would not do well with young children at this time as he does not fully realize his size and strength and may knock them down when playing.

His ideal adopter would be an experienced working line  dog handler willing to continue and re-enforce his training giving him structure and balance.  He would be an ideal farm dog as he likes  to hang out with his person while outside. At the bottom of this profile I left his initial fosters description of him as many of his characteristics are the same.  I also updated some pictures and attached a video of him with our other foster, but kept some of his original pictures as well.  He is a striking looking boy that gets attention whenever we are out.

Charlie Brown 6345 is a very handsome 8 month old neutered male GSD. Charlie ended up in a shelter because his previous owner was not able to care for  him.  He is very social and energetic. He is playful and enjoys toys and chew items. Food is his jam and he is very treat/food motivated. Charlie is a great size but looks like he may be a big boy with big ole paws!  Charlie goes into his crate but will let you know he isn't happy about it but usually settles down after some time - he has improved a ton in a short time. He loves affection from those he knows and if he hears a bag ruffling he comes running! Charlie has a normal interest in cats but there's a possibility he can coexist peacefully. He would be best in a home with German Shepherd experience and someone who will invest in his training/obedience as he is your typical adolescent GSD.  Charlie can be mouthy and jump in excitement. He will make a wonderful addition to a lucky family! Charlie does take time to warm up to new people and prefers strangers not to get down in his face or touch his face - no small children. Once he is comfortable and trusts you he is a SUPER sweetheart!
