Sonny is a 2.5 year old absolute love of a GSD. He has only been fostering with us for a short while but has already shown us so many of his wonderful qualities. Someone is going to get a total treasure of a dog when they adopt this sweet boy. He came to VGSR fully vetted and is eager to find his forever family. To loosely quote the Zac Brown Band, Sonny's "got everything you need and nothing that you don't"! Sonny has been great with our children, our dog, and is being tested with our dog-savy cats. He is happiest being close to his people. He enjoys snuggles and attention and is an affectionate dog. Sonny is house trained and knows basic commands. He is eager to please and quick to learn. His house manners are excellent! Sonny rides well in the car and has been great on a trail walk with the distractions of other people, dogs and bikes. He does pull on the leash when excited, we are working on better leash manners and he is proving that he is willing and able to learn. He has not spent a great deal of time in his crate but isn't opposed to being in there for short stretches. He has done well being able to free roam and hasn't gotten into any trouble. Sonny has a medical condition called EPI, however it is well managed and does not impact his quality of life. He requires a special diet and daily medication. Because of his EPI he may remain on the thin side but we are working on increasing his feedings to help him gain a few more pounds. Sonny is an amazing boy with lots of love to give! Sonny will be available for adoption once he clears medical. We expect that to take approximately two weeks from 9/20/19.
