| Phoenix is a stunning black-and-red, long-coated German Shepherd. He's just turning 11 months old, and
tops the scales currently at 83 lbs. Phoenix is from a local, well-known breeder, and German bloodlines, but none of that
matters to us. His owner surrendered him to the rescue because recent changes in her health did not allow for a strong boy
like Phoenix. We'd like to place Phoenix with an owner that is experience with large, stubborn GSDs. Phoenix is well trained,
but needs a reminder every now and then regarding who is in charge. We also believe Phoenix would do better in a home
without small children, because he doesn't realize how big he is (he's a tiny bit clumsy) and is still learning that "mouthing"
is unacceptable. Phoenix was house-trained and crate-trained in his previous home. He lived with a cat in his previous
home, too, but will chase a cat if one runs from him, thus a cat is his new home would have to be "dog saavy". We do know
that Phoenix has one hip that is slightly dysplastic - his new owners must pay keen attention to his weight and supplement
his diet with a product called Glycoflex, that aids in joint health and mobility. If Phoenix is kept in tip-top shape, he should
have no problem with his hips. Phoenix has an ID chip that can be registered to his new owner. Phoenix really enjoys
playing with other dogs, and rides well in the car. He is not a "chewer" or a barker. He's neutered and up-to-date on all his
vaccinations. Phoenix is being fostered in Maryland. DBMD Adopted: 07/05/04. |
