Your contributions to VGSR are very much needed and most welcome. We are looking for donations of high-quality dog food, portable crates, blankets, dog treats, rawhide bones, collars, leashes, flea, tick, and heartworm preventative, towels, moving pads/quilted blankets, dog toys, tennis balls, and of course, cash to defray the cost of feeding, housing, and providing medical care for dogs in need of good homes.

We try to send off each adopted pooch with a toy, a new collar, and a chewie or two. We call it "packing their suitcase". If a dog comes to the rescue with supplies such as a dog bed, crate, bowls, toys, etc., we always make sure that these items convey to the new family so that the dog has some familiar items in his or her new home. Sadly though, most of the pooches come from the shelter and they do not even have a collar to call their own. So if you see a good sale on collars, toys or rawhides at the local pet store, please think about buying a couple of extra ones to donate to our good cause.

VGSR is a 100% volunteer, 501(c)(3) Public Charity. All donations are tax exempt, and 100% of all donations to VGSR go to the benefit of those dogs that come to us for help in finding loving homes. Please contact VGSR at the address at the bottom of this page.

Please note that all donations received for a specific German Shepherd Dog (GSD) will be utilized for the intended GSD, and any donations received in excess of expenses incurred for the specific GSD will be applied towards other GSDs in need. VGSR is now able to offer you the option of donating via PayPal through the convenience of your credit card. Please consider using this as a means to help us help those dogs that come to us in search of their "forever" homes. Please note that PayPal can be used only for general donations and sponsorships, not for application fees or adoption donations.

Ginger's Fund

Ginger's Fund has been created in memory of Sheila Grimes, a long-time VGSR volunteer. True to Sheila's generous spirit and never-ending pursuit to help the dogs of VGSR, she has requested that in lieu of flowers, she would appreciate donations being made to the brand new "Ginger's Fund" that has been established in her memory. This fund has been named after one of Sheila's favorite fosters and the money donated to this account will be used specifically to help out the dogs who need it the most - the old doggies, the sick doggies and the special needs doggies.

If you should chose to honor Sheila by making a donation to this very worthy fund, please be sure to indicate "Ginger's Fund" somewhere on your donation. Thank you ever so much for considering this option and for your generous donations to VGSR.

VGSR Vehicle Donation Program

VGSR can now take vehicles for donations. Are you or do you know someone that is thinking of selling or trading an old car, truck, boat, or RV? Why not donate it and save the hassle. VSGR can really use the donation and we will provide you with a tax-deductible donation receipt. It's easy to do. With one phone call to (703) 574-2206, a professionally licensed, bonded and insured towing company will come and pick up the vehicle within 3 to 4 days. VGSR will receive 70% of the net proceeds and you will be free of the hassles of trying to sell it yourself.
