Adopted!

| Hi, I'm Artemis. I have good news and bad news. The good news first: I am a beautiful, big healthy girl who
gets along with other dogs and remarkably well with the kitties in my foster home. I ride well in the car and love to play fetch.
Sometimes I'm so eager to play fetch, you will find yourself otherwise occupied and suddenly you will have a ball in your lap, and
I will be staring at you and the ball intensively! I am highly trainable, house-trained, and even though I probably don't need to,
I sleep in a crate when nobody's home. On the exterior, I am the "perfect" dog. The bad news: Like many GSDs, I am very loyal
to my family and am protective of my home and the people who live in it. I will need a family that understands that I need proper
introductions to friends that come over, or may need to be sequestered separately from visitors completely. You see, I was
adopted once from VGSR and found a loving family with two little boys that I adored playing with, and the family loved me, too.
One day, a child came to visit, and I nipped him, and unfortunately was returned to the care of VGSR. I was temporarily fostered
in another home, and nipped someone else who startled me. Now I have been labeled a "biter", and need a very special placement
with someone committed to not letting me harm anyone again. I guess I love just a little *too much* and it's gotten me in trouble.
Meanwhile, I'm staying at my original foster mom's home and am doing fantastic. I would never hurt my foster mom, foster dad,
or any of my canine or feline friends here, because once I know you, I will love you for life (especially if you play ball with me)
(Artemis never attacked her former family, even the small kids, only a visitor that she apparently thought was unwelcome).
Please don't misunderstand. I will never be placed as a guard dog or in a home where I will be trained to attack. I just want a
normal peaceful life with a family who understands I have a slightly special need, and is ready to accept the responsibility for a
dog like me for the rest of my life. If you are an approved adopter, and you think you can provide Artemis with a home in which
she not be in a situation to ever hurt anyone again, you are welcome to contact her foster mom at
barbie@shepherdrescue.org. Although Artemis gets along fine with children, she will not be placed in a home with
children, no exceptions. DBMD.
