![]() Sable |
Adopted! Sable is a one year old female who is friendly, good with kids and adults, housebroken, and rides well in a car. She is dominant with other dogs, so she needs to go to a home without other dogs. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
Sable #2 Pictures coming soon... |
Adopted! Sable #2 is a very large, purebred, female GSD who has her AKC papers. She is around 8 years old, spayed, up to date on her vaccinations and in good health. She is trained to walk on a leash, knows the commands sit, lie down, speak, and she is housebroken, too. Sable is OK with other dogs, cats and kids of all ages. Please consider giving a good home to a big girl who has a lot of good years left and a lot of love to give. |
![]() Sable #3 |
Adopted! What a sweetheart! That's what we said from the minute we met Sable #3. She is 4 years old, good with other dogs (unsure of cats -- not PeeWee tested yet). Good with kids (is living with Carolena the 11 year old "kid tester") and follows you around just wanting to be next to you and get hugs. She is housebroken and knows many commands (sit, down, paw, and best of all "speak"). It is not often that we get one in who is as sweet and loving and well trained as this darling is. Her only downfall now is that she needs to lose a little weight. Sable is a true love that anyone would be blessed to own. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sable #4 |
Adopted! Sable is a Black & Tan, 100 lb. (too chunky right now), gentle, 3-year-old GSD that loves to be right by your side. She is great with children and was living with a 4 & 8 year old. Her family brought her to the rescue due to personal matters in the home. She can sit, come, fetch, and walks fairly well on a leash. She does not like cats, but gets along well with some dogs. Sable needs a fenced (5-6 ft) yard, and a home with children/adults who will play ball, Frisbee, snuggle, brush and run with her. This was her second home already so let's find her Forever Home. Have you been looking for this sweet girl? Sable is living in Hampton Roads / Tidewater, Virginia. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sable #5 |
Adopted! This handsome fellow is named Sable. He is a gorgeous red sable, purebred German Shepherd. Sable is thin from his stay in an animal shelter and happy to be in his VGSR foster home. Friendly and smart, this guy would make a great addition to that special family. He wants to be your new best friend. Full of energy, Sable will need someone that has lots of time for walks in the neighborhood, trips to the dog park and long games of tennis ball. He is two years old, loves to ride in the car. You can meet him at adoption events in Northern Virginia. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sabre |
Adopted! Sabre is 100% working dog, he needs a place to run and a job, He LOVES obedience training. His only major problem is that he is very alpha if you don't keep a firm position with him, and is vet aggressive (fine any other time) so needs to be muzzled while at the vet, but the vet has said that he has gotten ALOT better since I have owned him, so with the right person I can see him getting over that. He really needs to be with an experienced GSD owner, and someone who will have the time to do obedience training and what not. He also isn't to fond of our cat, but fine with other dogs. He is 5 years old, 75 lbs., neutered, with papers. Please contact vadogrescue@aol.com if you have room in your heart and your home for this great guy. |
![]() Sabrina |
Adopted! Sweet Sabrina was turned into the shelter for acting like a puppy. At 7 months old, this sable beauty is very much a youngster. She weighs 50 pounds and is a gorgeous puppy just waiting for you to fall in love with her. She has some red around her face and penciling on her front legs. Now that she is in a foster home, she is learning all sorts of new things. She is bewildered by all the new sounds, smells and sights. Sabrina is very alert and will sound a big girl bark when needed. A little shy sometimes, she will learn confidence from her foster siblings. Sabrina loves to ride in the car, but her favorite position is in the driver's lap. She is always putting her nose under your hand for a pat on the head and some reassurance that she is a good girl. Once you meet Sabrina, you'll see what a special girl this is. She is being fostered in Northen Virginia. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sabrina #2 |
Adopted! Sabrina ia a beautiful black-and-tan German Shepherd. She looks like she jumped out of the pages of a German Shepherd book. She is 4 years old and weighs 66 pounds. She was just spayed. She has had obedience training and does her commands great. She is house-trained and crate-trained, but we find we never need to crate her because she does great out on her own. Sabrina loves people and kids, but isn't crazy about other dogs, so she should be the only dog in the home. Sabrina is a very loyal, obedient, fun, playful dog, and is also a wonderful watchdog. She is her foster family's dream dog! She is being fostered in Northern Virginia. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sabrina #3 |
Adopted! Sabrina is a very, very, sweet, petite GSD that looks to humans for guidance. Sabrina walks WONDERFULLY on a loose
leash as well as the heel position. She is very eager to please---always looking up to see what she can do next. I do believe
she likes to hear that she is a good girl. Sabrina's self confidence is a bit lacking with other dogs and that is why she is a bit
dog aggressive. I assume she had a very bad encounter during the imprint stage of life with another of her own kind. I do
believe she can be taught with patience and consistency to be more self-confident and not fear other dogs. I have four GSDs
and after one week, I have them all walking together. Sabrina loves water, loves to walk and absolutely loves people. Sabrina
has plenty of energy but this energy can be put to good use. The ideal adoption would be placing her with a family including
children. They can all exhaust each others energy. She is exposed to rabbits and horses at my home and does not show any
aggression at all. Just curious as any young child would be. Who ever adopts this little one will not have the female GSD
dominance issue to contend with, I can assure you. She is not food-aggressive and has a beautiful, shiny black coat. If you live
in the Isle-of-Wight area of Virginia, I will be more than happy to work with you on obedience training and problem solving.

![]() Sadie |
Adopted! Sadie is a year old floppy-eared Shepherd mix (although I think she may be purebred, her ears just never went up). She is learning how to live inside and is curently living with children (2 years old and 3 months old). Other than the occasional accident and food grabbing, she is adjusting quite well to her new home. She has a loose hip joint and should not be a jogging or bike riding companion, however, swimming and long leash walks are ideal. She is very smart and has learned many new tricks. She loves to snuggle and is an all around happy and well adjusted Shepherd. She is dominant and would need to either be the only dog or have a submissive buddy as a friend. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sadie #2 |
Adopted! Hi, my name is Sadie, and I just turned two years old. Since I am house-trained and do not chew on anything inappropriate, I do not need to be in a crate when you are not home. I will admit that I am kinda bossy with other dogs and tend to get a bit jealous when you try and pet another. I would like to have all of your love and attention just for me. In exchange, I promise to be your faithful protector that will give a big bark when someone knocks at the door. I am friendly and will stick close by your side when I am outdoors. I like to play fetch and come back instantly when you call my name. I do actually like to wrestle with other dogs once I get to know them. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sadie #4 |
Adopted! Sadie is 1 year old, and a beautiful, little package. She is enjoying her other foster puppy friend, Bogie and the two of them play until they drop. Sadie is a happy girl, but is afraid of any hand coming from above to pet her. She was abused and will cower until she hears what a good girl she is. She then looks at you with those beautiful eyes like, "Hey, you like me!" Sadie gives little kisses, and is learning to play with toys. She is house- and crate-trained, and needs to learn some basic obedience. She won't even jump on the couch when invited. She would like a home with some older children, and another playful dog would be just fine with her. We are still learning about this sweet little package that is now living in Virginia Beach. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sadie #5 |
Adopted! Hi, I'm Sadie. I'm a year and a half old and an energetic teenager. I love exercise and adventure. I love to wrestle,
play ball, or entertain myself with my toys! I mind my manners and I only chew on things that belong to me and do
not jump on furniture. I love being lazy and lounging in the sun, but if you want, I'll run a marathon with you! I also love
my Mom, Cady. We can entertain ourselves for hours together. RTVA

![]() Sadie #6 |
Adopted! Pick me and I'll do anything for you for a pet or two. I didn't get much attention in my last home and I am so
eager to please and so happy to make you proud of me. I will be one year old on January 30th, and my foster mom
tells me I am one VERY laid back pupper. I am being shown around by my 1-year-old foster sister who is teaching
me all the fun stuff to do. The older foster sister is not as much fun because she bosses us young'uns around, but I
do like every dog I've met so far anyway. My favorite thing to do is to give kisses to Carolena the "test kid" who told
me tonight that I must have another dog or a kid in my new home and that was her final answer! So if you want a
total love bug pick me, I promise to make you proud you did! GSVA

![]() Sadie #8 |
Adopted! Hi, my name is Sadie. I am a very loveable GSD. I love to play and run, and love car rides. My family had
to give me up with my sister Zoe. I am a little shy at first, but give me a treat and I will be your best friend. I
like playing with other dogs and children, and cats do not bother me at all. Is there a GSD lover out there that
can provide my forever home? I am being fostered in Maryland. VGSR Tag #1397. Please e-mail

![]() Sadie #9 |
Adopted! Sadie is a 7-month-old, pure-bred German Shepherd. She has an unusual and beautiful coat that is black and silver.
Sadie ended up at a rural West Virginia shelter. She doesn't appear to have been well cared for in her former life, but all
that's about to change! Sadie has a great sense of humor and loves to play chase with both people and other dogs. She is
very gentle and shy for her age, clearly bonding to other dogs faster than to people. Sadie is yet another "diamond in the
rough", and I think she'd thrive with training, patience and praise. Once Sadie has a good grooming, she's going to be a
knockout. Because Sadie is shy, she would do best in a home without small children or a lot of activity, but would love the
company of another playful dog and going for walks and to dog parks. Sadie rides very well in a car too. Approved adopters
are encouraged to e-mail
barbie@shepherdrescue.org to make arrangements to meet Sadie. She is also expected to attend adoption
events, but probably won't be available for long! DBMD.

![]() Sadie #10 |
Adopted! Sadie is a beautiful pup with her liver color and her golden eyes. A rare find. She is a really sweet puppy who loves to play
with her foster brothers. She's still not quite sure of a lot of things. She'll definitely need some training on her leash manners
and basic commands. She's also very mouthy. Come and meet this little beauty at an Adoption Day soon. She won't be available
long! LTVA

![]() Sam #3 |
Adopted! This majestic looking dog is Sam. He is 2 years old, and was turned in to the shelter. Sam is calm and very well-behaved in his VGSR foster home. So far, he is even ignoring the cats and the more dominant dogs. He a real lover. Sam is a special looking pure-bred, with his handsome long coat. His color is a stunning cinnamon and black. He is very thin under all that fur and should weigh about 70 pounds. His foster mom is so very impressed with his good behavior. He is a good car rider, waits for an invitation to come back in the house, after he goes out to potty, and walks well on a leash. Sam would love to show you how he knows to sit and shake. He is being fostered in Northern Virginia. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sam #6 |
Adopted! Sam, I am! My name is Sam, and I'm about a year old, but I'm really still a pup. I am playful, frisky, sweet,
and friendly, but mostly I'm a bundle of raw potential. I'm not bad on a leash, and can sit on command, but that's
about all I know so far. I'm learning not to jump on people, but sometimes I forget. Until I've had some training
and grown up myself, I'd prefer to be around active adults, maybe teenage children. I'd love to get into some serious
doggie games like agility, search and rescue, or flyball. I'll need a daily outlet for my energy. Small dogs and cats are
not for me, but I would love to have a canine playmate about my same size and age. Take a look at my pics, I'm told
that I'm a looker. And feel free to contact my foster dad at vadogrescue@aol.com if you have any questions about me.
I'm living down near Charlottesville right now, but I'm planning to come to Sterling and Herndon adoption events.

![]() Samantha |
Adopted! Samantha is a beautiful black and tan purebred shepherd girl, about 1 year old. Samantha is very good with other dogs and cats. A petite girl, she should only weigh about 65 pound when fully grown. Samantha is very shy and scared of new things. She will respond well to gentle training, lots of love and patience. Samantha wants to play and be a puppy sometimes. Other times she only wants to snuggle and give kisses. Samantha needs a forever home that will help her blossom. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Samantha #2 |
Adopted! Samantha (Sammy) is a recent mommy of seven (see Pup-Pourri, above). She was left at a shelter in VA Beach with her babies at one week old. She didn't do anything wrong and has no problems. She did a great job with all her little ones which are now being placed into loving homes. She now finds herself also looking for a new home too. She knows her basic commands, is great on a leash, is great with kids, dogs, cats, other pets. She is house trained, responds to voice tones, a whistle, leash commands and facial expressions. She enjoys car rides, running, long walks and fetching. She is in excellent shape and can jump like a rabbit. She can be left alone without any problems, although she'd prefer being with you, in your lap or down at your feet. She's well rounded and has I think the best hearing of any GSD I've had -- and it's no wonder with those fine specimen ears! Notice how pretty she looks, with her striking mask and eyebrows. At night she still sleeps with her babies, but soon they'll be adopted soon and she'll need someone to comfort her at night. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sammie |
Adopted! My ears are big, but my heart is bigger. I am less than 1-year-old, and still trying to grow into my feet -
watch out, I spill the water dish a lot! So far, I have been extremely gentle and loving to all that I meet, dogs
and humans. I am house-trained, but still have a few accidents in my crate when my foster parents leave me.
My foster sister and I have so much fun together and love to play tug-of-war with all our toys. We share bones,
food, water, and our beds - and go on trips to the dog park and pet stores. My mom says that I am very smart
and have learned to sit and lie down very quickly - and "off" when I sneak up onto the bed! Mom likes to put
her hand in my food bowl while I'm eating - and I don't even mind! If you are looking for a life-long companion
and friend, please come and meet me. I am being fostered in Northern Virginia. HRVA

![]() Sampson |
Adopted! Sampson is a huge and gorgeous 13-month-old, black and tan male. He is an owner give up who was not exposed to many things in life, so he is very scared right now about many things. He has never been in a crate before since I have a hard time putting him in one, but once in it, he stays quiet. He is very sweet and gets along with other dogs, small or big. He is also good with cats and kids. Due to his size, he is very strong and will need a strong person to handle him. I am still learning about him and will update with more information at a later time. |
![]() Sampson #2 |
Adopted! Hi, my name is Sampson. I'm 5 years young, and I love people and other dogs. I live with my sister, Babe, but we do not
need to stay together. I used to live inside, but when my mom got sick I had to start living outside. I used to live with a cat,
but my mom said it was a long time ago so we don't know if I still like cats. GSVA

![]() Samson #2 |
Adopted! Hi! My name is Samson! I haven't had a very happy first 2 years of life. My former owners kept me chained up outside, and had recently left me out in the last snowstorm of this past winter. Now I am very happy to be warm, have food and water and friends to play with! I love to play with my foster sister and brother. I'm learning sit and stay very well, and can now even shake! I also love to cuddle up with my foster mom and dad! I just love to be with people and other dogs! Do you have a fun forever home for me? I am being fostered in Northern Virginia. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Samson #4 |
Adopted! Samson was born 2-23-03 and weighs 79 pounds. He is a gorgeous and very sweet pup from German lines. He loves to play ball. He is crate-trained, but not quite house-trained yet. Samson is great with other dogs, but we don't know about cats. Samson will need an active home to release all his puppy energy. He will need obedience training ASAP as he will be a big boy and will need manners before he becomes out of control. Samson will make someone out there a very lucky person!! < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Samson #5 |
Adopted! Hi, my name is Samson. I am a pure-bred German Shepherd that just celebrated my first birthday on February 14,
2003. My hobbies are running, chasing and playing tug of war. I can sit, lie down and stay upon request. I must admit
I do have some off days. I am a polite eater. I always wait to be told that I can eat my supper before just digging in. This
gets me a lot of brownie points. I am excellent with children (references available upon request). I am house-trained. As
a matter of fact, if you get to busy I will let you know when I have to go out. I love to be rubbed on my belly and have my
head scratched. Last but not least, I understand the over-population of unwanted pets. You don't have to worry about that
with me. Samson is currently staying in Glen Allen (near Richmond), VA. CRVA |
![]() Samson #7 |
Adopted! Samson is truly a solid citizen and is genuinely affectionate. Samson is also strikingly beautiful. He has the regal head and
stance of a cover dog. He has a lovely floating trot (some good lines here). Samson is a neutered, male, German Shepherd who
is up to date on all his shots. He is house-trained and crate-trained, and does not have any bad chewing habits. Samson loves
car rides (as long as he gets to sit in your lap) and loves hikes in the woods (as long as he can circle back for pats quite often).
Samson takes treats gently from your hand and responds well to very basic commands. Samson takes a few days to settle into
a new situation and can be a bit nervous and noisy until he does. But once he settles in, he is a really good boy. Samson gets
along with other dogs after the proper introduction. Samson gets quite excited around the kitties, so he would be best placed in
a home without cats. Samson has bonded well with his foster family. He is quite simply, a kind, devoted companion. You can
e-mail Susan at
run4stacatto@yahoo.com for more info. LSMD

![]() Samson #8 |
Adopted! Hi, my name is Samson, but you can call me Sammy. I'm a GSD mix and I'm a very sweet boy, however I'm also still a little scared and
timid. If you'd been through everything I've been through, you'd be timid too. You see, I lived for quite awhile on my own with no regular
food, water or shelter. One day the people from the local pound came and picked me up and I ended up living there at the shelter for a while.
It was nice having food and water, but it was still a scary place and I was starting to think that I would never have a chance at being a real pet.
Just then, this nice lady with VGSR came and got me and took me to my new foster parents. My new foster parents are very nice. It's taken
me a while but I've learned to trust them. When I came to live here, I was a very sick dog, but VGSR has taken care of me and made sure I
received all the medicine and treatments that I needed to be healthy again. I don't like to fetch however I do love to chew on tennis balls! In
fact, I'm really starting to enjoy this life of toys, dog beds and yummy treats. My foster parents tell me I'm a smart boy because I picked up
on the house-training thing really quickly and I've learned to come when they call. Did I tell you my foster parents have a dog of their own?
Although my foster parents are really nice, I am more attached to my canine friend and he helps me with my confidence. I'd be really happy
if my new forever family had another dog for me to best friends with. If you think I sound like a sweet dog and a good fit for your family, please
come meet me at a Northern Virginia adoption event. - HEVA

![]() Samson #9 |
Adopted! Samson, a.k.a. Sammy, is the sweetest dog ever. He has a wonderful even temperament and is so goofy. But that's probably
because he still has a lot of puppy energy in him. He gets along with everyone and everything. He doesn't chase my cats and loves
to play with his foster GSD brother Jack. He loves to snuggle up, but he's not a kisser, just wants you stroke his head and lie next to
you. He stays by my feet all the time, unless he's playing with his foster brother. Sammy has great leash manners, rides well in the
car and is a VERY quick learner - he knows his basic commands, but will need some training to keep him being the great dog that he
is. Come meet him at an upcoming adoption event. He'll steal your heart. AAVA

![]() Sandy |
Adopted! Hi my name is Sandy. I am a 13-week-old, black, tan and beige female GSD. My foster mom is very proud of me. I
now walk well on a leash and also know that grass is to potty. I love to play ball and run a lot. I love children and other
dogs, but cats I'm not so sure about. I am so cute you will fall in love with me. I am being taught to sit and stay, but with
my brothers around I do not want to listen. My brothers have already been spoken for. I would love to go to puppy classes
with you and I'm sure that this would be fun for us. I am being fostered in Maryland. EPMD |
![]() Santana |
Adopted! Little Santana is a precious, black and tan female. She is a purebred German Shepherd with the face of an angel. At seven months old, she is 42 pounds and very thin from her vacation in the animal shelter. She loves to play wrestle with all the bigger dogs and explore the house like a real adventurer. Santana is a little nervous when she does go an a mission of discovery. She will take two steps forward and one step back fast, when she is in a new situation. Like most puppies she needs lots of attention. Santana is very smart and is quickly learning some basic commands, house manners, and how to play ball. She will need a lifetime of love and caring, and will return it many times over. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sara |
Adopted! Sara came from a rural West Virginia shelter and we don't know her mom or dad. We just couldn't leave this cutie
behind, so VGSR took her in. She looks to be a GSD mix - check out that curl in her tail! At adoption day, she loved playing
with the bigger dogs, but if they bark, it scares her. She met the cat and he's bigger than she is and doesn't want to play, but
she keeps trying. Puppy lessons are coming along nicely. She's a smart, healthy, happy, chewing little puppy looking for her
forever home. GSAVA

![]() Sarah |
Adopted! Sarah, our beautiful black and tan gal just turned one year old. She has already been spayed and she loves to play with other dogs. She is very affectionate and also likes to ride in the car. Sarah is losing her home because the senior resident dog, a boxer, doesn't like her and is making Sarah's life miserable. She currently lives with a ferret, so we think that she would be OK with a cat. Sarah would love to have a buddy to romp and play with. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sarah #2 |
Adopted! Sarah was found as a stray with her pal, Gregory. They were in such excellent condition, yet no one claimed them at the shelter. Now they are sharing a VGSR foster home hoping to be adopted together. Sarah is completely devoted to Gregory. They are a quiet pair that keep each other company. She loves to ride in the car or have her belly rubbed. Sarah also likes to play chase with Gregory and the other dogs. Sweet Sarah is about 5 years old and weighs about 75 pounds. She is a pure-bred German Shepherd with a gorgeous black face and soft brown eyes. Sarah will be waiting to meet you at Northern Virginia adoption events. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sarge |
Adopted! Sarge is an 18-month-old, neutered, male GSD who is up to date on all of his vaccines. He is very good with
other dogs, but cannot manage to behave himself around cats, so a feline-free zone is recommended for him. He
tends to be much more responsive to a man than to a woman according to his foster mom. He is not comfortable
around children, so we are looking for an adult household for Sarge. He is crate-trained, and also house-broken.
He is still a youngster so he is not above swiping something off the counter or table to give a good chew. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sasha |
Adopted! Sasha is a six-month-old, black-and-tan female, that was turned into the shelter for acting like a puppy. Now she is learning how to be a good girl, with the help of her VGSR foster family. Sasha is a little shy. She is a smart, quick student, and each day is a little more confident. She is a sweet dog that needs to learn to trust people. Sasha is being fostered in Northern Virginia. VGSR Tag #444 < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sasha #2 |
Adopted! Sasha is a beautiful purebred black and tan male who had the misfortune of being attacked by a pit bull. He lived to tell about it, and except for a few scars is in excellent health. He is the most mellow fellow I have ever met. He is around 5 years old, housebroken, and good with everyone he meets. He is living with 5 foster brothers and sisters right now, and gets along with all of them. He never wants any trouble from anyone. He knows commands in English and in German, and actually prefers them in German. He loves to snuggle up in bed and comes to you when he wants affection, but is not an "in your face" kind of dog. He is housebroken, and really comes to life when presented with a tennis ball, his favorite toy. He does have a bit of the wanderlust, so he must have a fenced-in yard. He is great on the leash, and loves to go exploring on walks. He is living in Annapolis right now, and will make someone a wonderful, loyal, and laid-back companion. ![]() Sasha #4 |
Adopted! Sasha is a 1 1/2-year-old, spayed, pure-bred, female, GSD. So who needs a dog with a BIG bark in a small
package? Even though Sasha is petite (probably around 60 lbs.), she sounds like she weighs about 200 lbs. when
she is barking at anyone who knocks on our door. She is smart and knows the commands sit, down, and will shake
hands, too. Sasha is house-trained, rides well in the car and LOVES to play with other dogs. We would like for
Sasha to go to a home where she will have another dog for a buddy since she likes to play so much. She loves going
to the dog park in Reston. She is a bit leery of some tall men, but once she gets to know them, she does just fine.
Sasha is very affectionate and likes to snuggle on your lap and give kisses. SLVA

![]() Sasha #5 |
Adopted! Sasha is just over a year old, crate-trained and house-trained, very friendly, and she's currently excelling in a
beginning obedience class. She is only about 50 pounds, a great size for a townhouse or even an apartment, if you are
committed to regular exercise. She walks well on a leash, plays well with other dogs, loves attention and repays it with
absolute devotion. You can contact her foster home at vadogrescue@aol.com if you have any questions. Sasha is being
fostered in the Charlottesville area, but will come to northern Virginia adoption events as well. JBVA

Sasha #10 |
Adopted! Here on the web site she is Sasha, but here at my house we all call her Mom. She is quiet, sweet, and totally house-trained.
Sasha is estimated to be 6-7 years old and prior to her arrival at VGSR she had a really rough life. The shelter told us she had
been shot, so we took an x-ray of her head and now we know they were not kidding. This poor gal has at least 25 pieces of
buckshot in her head. The vet said that it was a miracle that she had not been blinded since so much shot was around her eye
sockets. She gets along just fine with other dogs, but not cats! Mom is a good rider in the car and is content to just curl up around by
your feet to keep you company. She does have a very mild heart murmur, but the vet said that it should not present any real
problems. Mom is a total love bug that is friendly to all she meets! SLVA

![]() Sassy |
Adopted! Sassy is very sweet, 1-2 year old girl weighing in at 49 lbs., with gorgeous, unique red sable fur. She needs to gain some weight, but she will still be on the small side for a shepherd. She has a truly wonderful and endearing temperament - gentle, well-mannered, and eager to please. She is great with other dogs, especially alpha type dogs. She is a real gem when it comes to kids and behaves exactly how you would want a dog to around young children. She is not hyper and she will play with you only if provoked. She has been given a clean bill of health by the vet, although she is on the thin side for the moment. She also has been recently groomed, and is feeling like a bombshell these days. Everyone who meets her loves her immediately. She is very anxious for attention and will put her paw, head or any other body part in your lap just to get an extra scratch on the head. She is crate-trained, however, she is not completely house-broken, nor is she leash-trained, but we are working on both of these and are already making progress after just a few short days. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sassy #2 |
Adopted! Sassy is a beautiful, 2-year-old, 70-lb. GSD with a glossy black coat, tan stockings, and a little tan on her chest and underside. She has gorgeous light brown eyes that radiate intelligence and curiosity about the world around her. Sassy bonds very strongly to her family and is extremely affectionate - she loves to put her head (or preferably her entire body) in your lap, give kisses, and get belly rubs. Her temperament is on the "soft" side, which means she needs someone who is nurturing and loving to help build her confidence in a variety of situations. Sassy is house-trained, crate-trained, and started on basic obedience commands. She is extremely bright and would do very well with someone who is interested in teaching her various canine activities (e.g., obedience, tracking, agility, etc.). This gentle girl is very athletic and loves to go on long hikes and runs in the woods. She also enjoys wrestling with her canine foster brothers, and being groomed by the resident cats. If you are a nurturing, loving, outdoorsy person who can take this sweet dog on lots of adventures in the wide world, Sassy may be the one for you! < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sassy #3 |
Adopted! Sassy's name fits her to a "T". She has lots of energy and is willing to play 24-7. She's a risk taker, too. She was only
at my house for one day and took on the stairs. Now she flies up and down them with ease. Sassy is really mouthy and
her little teeth are sharp. She's blond in color with a black muzzle and a few other black marks. She came from West
Virginia. She is going to make someone so glad they decided to adopt. Come and meet Sassy at an adoption event. LTVA

![]() Savanah |
Adopted! Savanah is the proud Mom of 5 new puppies. She is about 50 lbs., but needs 15 more and is hardly a year old herself. She is mostly sable, and has a wonderful and sweet loving personality with her pups and her new foster family, including children of 3 and 13. Savanah has not been formally trained, but is very intuitive to the sound of your voice and wants to please everyone. Savanah and pups will be available to go to their forever homes in early June. Do you have room in your home for Mom and a puppy? She is living in the Virginia Beach area. |
![]() Sawyer |
Adopted! Known as Sawyer Brown in our house, he demands a lot of attention. I've gotta say he has been spoiled rotten from day one.
He and his sister were picked up as strays in DC. She was adopted right away (to later come into VGSR rescue, and has moved
on to her permanent home). VGSR was called in to pick up Sawyer. He was a very sick little pup with an upper respitory bug.
Once healed from that, he was a very happy pup until he was struck down with Parvo. It was touch-and-go for over a week.
Now, he's healthy, happy and looking for his forever home. He's very playful and still very mouthy, so no small kids for him.
He'll definitely need some obedience training. Sawyer is a very humble little fellow and demands his people's love. He doesn't
mind butting in when needs some TLC. Come and meet this little jewel for yourself at one of our adoption days. LTVA

![]() Schatzi |
Adopted! Schatzi is a beautiful, 3-year-old, purebred, female, German Shepherd. She is medium-size and black- and-tan. Her owner/dad died suddenly and the family has asked VGSR to help find Schatzi a new home. Schatzi is good with small children and other dogs. Everyone is heartbroken for Schatzi. She sits in her crate waiting for her dad to come home. She has been spayed and kept current on all shots. Shatzi has been well-loved and received good care. A typical German Shepherd, Schatzi will be as devoted to her new family. She is housetrained and know some basic obedience. Schatzi is, however, one that wants to see if cats really do taste like chicken, so a home without cats is in order. Schatzi is otherwise a sweetheart of a girl. Can you find a place in your heart and in your home for Schatzi? |
![]() Schultzie |
Adopted! Schultzie is approximately 9-12 months old. He has a very sweet nature. He is very scared of people, men in particular. I'm sure there is a story to that. We have other dogs and they all seem to tolerate each other well. We also have cats and he seems relatively disinterested in them with the occasional inquisitiveness when the cats are running around acting spastic (as cats do). He had his first car ride to the vet and did extremely well. He did vomit once, but of course, I had given him a treat when I got him in the back of the Jeep for being such a good boy! In fact he laid down for most of the ride. I still can't get my Chessy to sit still in the car! So that's a summary of "Schultzie". He has had a tough life up 'til now. He is accepting and giving love much more freely now and is beginning to be playful pup. I believe he is beginning to see how nice a dog's life can be when people care about him. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Scooby |
Adopted! Ever been in love with two fellas at the same time? You will be when you meet Scooby and Shaggy. Both were
left behind when their owner moved. Scooby is 2 years old, and weighs 80#. He is a polite, friendly boy who is very
smart. He doesn't jump on you, no counter-cruising, no excessive barking, no chewing. He loves treats, car rides, and
to just be with you. He has a bit of separation anxiety (scratching on door) but settles down quickly after his foster
leaves for work. He gets along with other dogs. At first he can be a bit bossy when he feels others are getting too much
attention, but now that he is secure in his foster home he seldom interferes. He'd make a good jogging partner; he'd
excel at agility. He has a bit of a prey drive so cats are probably not ok, but kids are (toddler's unknown). He is eager
to please, bonds to his owner quickly, and did I say that he is smart? Scooby is heartworm negative, lyme negative, and
unlike Shaggy, his hips do not need to be x-rayed. He is being fostered in Shenandoah Valley. RJVA

![]() Scout |
Adopted! Scout is a 2 1/2 year old (soon to be) spayed female. She is a classic black and tan German Shepherd. I estimate her weight to be 70 lbs - not a small girl! Preliminary testing shows that she's GREAT with other dogs, and shows only a mild curiosity with cats. That's pretty remarkable, since she's never shared a house with either to the best of our knowledge. Scout is an owner give-up from a young lady that had to move and couldn't take Scout with her. Scout warms up to people very quickly and had kisses for me the whole way home. She did BIG laps around the yard when she first came here, and is now all tuckered out from her big adventure. Scout appears to be crate trained and housetrained. Scout needs a basic obedience refresher course, and is a bit strong out in public. Scout hopes to meet you soon! < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Scout #5 |
Adopted! My name is Scout. I am a very gentle and handsome jet-black GSD. I am 1-2 years old, and I am a big boy. I love big people, little people, and I get along well with other dogs. I even leave the cat alone (even though she tries to annoy me). I am very loving and I give the best kisses. I like to play, too. I have been very well trained and I know the basic commands. I also have been crate-trained. I am a bit scared of those nasty stairs, but I am working on them. My foster mom says I am a real sweetheart. I am very anxious to find my forever family. Seela |
Adopted! Seela is a very very sweet, affectionate dog. All she wants is to be next to you and give you gentle kisses. In the car, Seela
will sit ever so quietly against you with her head on your lap. She is that kind of girl. She is calm and quiet. Seela is an
easy-going dog to have in the home. She is well house- and crate-trained, and loves to go for walks - alone or with her foster
pack. She has good energy and is in excellent condition. Seela gets along well with all other dogs and is a beta girl who responds
well to commands and training. Seela is a very attractive German Shepherd with amber and black markings and lovely
expressive eyes. Please e-mail Susan at

![]() Shadow #3 |
Adopted! At just 5 he's the biggest gentle giant you'd ever want to meet. We don't think he knows how big he really is because when he romps with Beemer (the test Cocker) he puts his mouth over Beemer's head. We are not sure he has ever learned to play with other dogs - he can get too rough with our female GS and male Cocker at times. Carolena the test kid, says he's cute and he does give kisses, but he does like to mouth alot - so he'll need a firm hand. He's housebroken and seems to like all size dogs and kids. He has a bad ear infection now so the vet says it kind of hurts to hold up his right ear, but even when we put the drops in, he is so grateful, he just kisses us. Shadow will make a very devoted, loving companion for someone who has patience and love and is willing to tell him "no". Don't delay in meeting him! < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Shadow #4 |
Adopted! Shadow #4 is a beautiful, glossy, 75 lb., 19-month-old, pure-bred GSD. She has a gentle nature and loves children, cats and other dogs. Shadow was returned to her breeder because she could not resist chasing their horses. Any horses at your house? She has little training but very eager to please. She loves her Kong, plays hide and seek, jobs, and even stays close when she is not fenced in. Shadow is house-broken and crate-trained which is recommended when her family is not at home since she still is doing some puppy chewing. She is very affectionate, with lots of kisses, and is very responsive to kind words and gives every indication she would love to be a lap dog. Her ideal forever home should have children, be willing to train her in obedience and agility, and want to have her as a close companion. Shadow lives in Norfolk with and our newest volunteer to VGSR. Please call her on 757-853-6595 if you would love to meet this MAGNIFICENT shepherd. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Shadow #5 |
Adopted! Shadow came to us along with a VERY impressive pedigree, including many champions and quite a few dogs from Covy-Tucker Hill. She is very sweet, calm inside the house, knows the commands sit, down, shake, come and stay. She has an intense interest in our cat, so a kitty-free environment would be recommended. She can be a little shy with some men at first, but she warmed right up to the guys who transported her and she likes John just fine! Shadow rode very quietly in the car and is doing fantastic here with our four dogs. She gives kisses and likes to curl up on your feet under the computer desk. She is already spayed and weighs 76 lbs according to her medical records. Rumor has it she ended up at the shelter for chasing the goats, so a goat-free environment would ALSO be recommended. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Shadow #6 |
Adopted! Shadow is a 14 week old German Shepherd puppy. She is all black and the smartest girl ever. Shadow came from a shelter in southern Virginia where she had been picked up as a stray. How did this little puppy get lost? Now she spends her days playing with all her foster siblings and learning the ropes from her foster family. Shadow is ready for adoption to a family where someone is home most of the time. She needs a loving, patient home where she can learn and live for the rest of her life. Shadow is being fostered in Northern Virginia. |
![]() Shadow #7 |
Adopted! What a doll baby! At 1 1/2 years he is truly a puppy in a grown up (very large) body! While he only weighs in at 77 lbs., he's very tall and long. Shadow is having a blast playing with my GS female and has passed the Carolena "test kid" routine testing with flying colors and lots of kisses. He is so much a puppy that he still has that clumsy "two left feet" quality, which makes him even more endearing. He had a hip surgery at a very young age, but has recovered 100% and to watch him run at the dog park, you would never know he had prior surgery. So far (only 2 days) he appears house-broken and crate-trained. He knows some basic commands and does well on a leash. This gentle giant won't be available long, so come and meet him soon! He's being fostered in Northern Virginia. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Shadow #8 |
Adopted! Shadow is the ultimate doggie diplomat! He is an eight-year-old gentleman who recently lost his home because his
former owner had to move into an assisted care facility. He is a neutered, 105 pound, cupcake of a dog. When he was at
the dog park in Reston, he spent the entire time there going from person to person, wanting them to pet him. He is fine
living with a cat and walks very nicely on a leash. He has been down to the river and had a blast splashing around and
checking out the scenery. He is calm, well behaved in the house, very well mannered and oh so affectionate. SLVA

Adopted! Hi, my name is Shadow, and I am a very handsome 4-year-old German Shepherd. They tell me I was born
around February of 2001, and I live in Richmond, VA. I'm mostly black in color with a little brown on my paws
and some white under my legs. My weight ranges from 50 - 60 pounds depending on how much I eat and how
much exercise I get. I have a very playful disposition. I love being around people and especially love children.
They dump sand on my head and I just sit there and take it. I was found as a puppy walking along a country road
and have spent the last 3 years in a very nice home with lots of love, just not enough room. I'm very lovable and
require lots of room to exercise. I'm very full of energy and sometimes have issues with fence jumping and running.
Everyone in my neighborhood knows me and loves me but my owner is very afraid that I'll be hit by a car and fears
for my safety. My owner and I would love to find a family that has a farm or lots of room for me to run and be free.
If you give me a home, I'll be the best dog I can for you and your family. Please write my owner to show your interest.
She can be reached at susan@firstchoiceclaims.net.

![]() Shadow #11 |
Adopted! Hi, my name is Shadow, and I am one of the cutest, sweetest sable pups there is! I live to run, play, jump, wrestle, chase
balls and whatever else a young dog can do to have fun. I am 7-1/2 months old and am one happy go-lucky guy. Right now,
there isn't much I do not like. Just your typical young energetic shepherd, that's what I am. I was surrendered to the shelter
and spent a few days there. Boy was that no fun. Who ever owned me did not give me the best care, but all that's going to
change now that I've been rescued! I am looking for a new family to call my own. A family who is as energetic as I am. One
that enjoys taking their dogs on long walks, scenic hikes and a silly place called obedience school so a young pup like me can
utilize my natural intelligence! FLMD

Adopted! Hi! My name is Shaggy. I need a home and a best friend. I am a 2-year-old, neutered, male German Shepherd.
My foster mother says I am loyal, affectionate, curious, and smart. My main job is to follow her everywhere. When
she is still I lie at her feet. I have great manners in the house and will sit by the door when I need to go out. I ride
great in the car and love car rides. I do have dysplasia of the left hip, but I show no signs of pain. I jog/walk three
miles with ease. I have to stop when my foster mother gets tired! The vet took x-rays and says I do not need surgery.
I hope to meet you soon. Shaggy is being fostered in the Shenandoah Valley. RJVA

![]() Shalimar |
Adopted! Shalimar is a male GSD, 7 1/2 months old, Black and Tan, approximately 75 Lbs. He's house trained, somewhat obedience trained, good with kids, good with cats (leaves ours alone when told NO!), and good with other dogs. He has a great disposition and is looking for a family to love him. Shalimar is a great big boy with lots of love to give. ![]() Shana |
Adopted! Shana is a super-sweet girl who amazingly was found as a stray. She is a petite, 51 pounds, black-and-tan girl who seems
to come from German lines. She is around a year old. Shana gets along well with other dogs, be they big or small. Cats are
unknown. Although there are no kids in her foster home, I have no doubt she would do fine with them as she is extremely
sweet and gentle, and kisses everyone who greets her. She seems to have some basic training and must have been treated
well in the past as the first thing she did when she came into her foster home was jump on the couch, crawl up and go to
sleep. Shana will benefit from obedience classes, and is looking for a devoted family who will give her a very loving and secure
life. In return she will give you the best companionship you will ever have! Shana is being fostered in MD. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Shane |
Adopted! Shane is a 1.5 year old, beautiful, black and tan boy. He loves to have his picture taken and strikes a great smile for the camera. He is house and obedience trained. Shane acts like car rides and stairs are new, but is learning to love new experiences. He is very good with other dogs and makes instant friends with new people. He is a little shy and will defer to other dogs. Shane is very smart and is calm around the house. Shane needs a home that will introduce him to new things slowly. Adopted! Shanghai is a very good-natured, handsome, 2 year old male German Shepherd. He's friendly, curious, playful, mischievous and yet, quiet, rarely barking. He likes to chase tennis balls, go for walks, and ride in the car. He enjoys meeting new people and having new experiences. Shanghai is a very social, affectionate, tail-wagging kind of guy. He really appreciates any love and attention given to him, and returns it tenfold. We think Shanghai was a stray for a long time and survived by his wits and determination. He is available for adoption now. Shanghai should go to a home in which he will have another canine companion to play with, and should be in a fenced yard. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |

Adopted! Shannon is an adorable young female GSD who is just learning about the world around her. She is submissive

Adopted! For heaven's sakes, what does a girl need to do to get adopted around here? I have been patiently waiting for
someone to recognize all of my wonderful qualities. I will be a loyal protector of your home, I love to jog, I love to go
for long hikes and car rides, love to play and I am smart, friendly AND beautiful - what more could you want? I have
every trait that a pure-bred GSD with my strong German lines should have - the only thing I am lacking is a family of
my own to love. Even though I love my foster parents, my personality really shines when I don't have to compete with
so many other dogs around. Please help me find a family to call my own. Thank you! SLVA

![]() Shaunti |
Adopted! Shaunti is a special gal. She was dropped at the shelter when her family decided to move without her. It was especially hard for her because she is an older German Shepherd, and that was the only home she has ever known. Shaunti is adjusting well to her new life in a VGSR foster home but she needs a permanent home. Shaunti is very polite, friendly, walks well on a leash, and has been around children. If you adopt Shaunti, you'll see why there are so many advantages to adopting an older dog: All she will need is some leisurely walks and lots of your love. |
![]() Shay |
Adopted! Little Miss Shay must be one of the sweetest and most gentle dogs around! She was turned in to the SPCA with her mate,
both of which were covered in ticks and severely underweight. Unfortunately, her mate did not make it. Despite her senior
years, Shay still has a spring in her step (her prior owner claimed she was a show dog) and she is quite interested in all that
goes on around her. She is a little timid and shy, but is now starting to come out of her shell a bit. She's grateful for any
kindness, and while she loves to snuggle and be kissed on (a new experience for her I am sure!), she is also quite content to
watch the antics of my two younger GSDs from the sidelines. Shay is very gentle and submissive with her new foster brothers.
She loves to go for walks and will stay right by your side. Shay has lost some of her hearing, but I am working on teaching her
the hand commands. She is also gaining some much needed weight, and has gone from a mere 42 lbs. at the shelter to
approximately 54 lbs. now, and could probably gain another 10 lbs. This poor little baby has been through so much and
deserves to finally have a "forever" home. Won't you open you heart to this gentle soul? You could not ask for a more loving
and appreciative companion. RMVA

Adopted! Sheba is a young adult female GSD who is around 2 years old. She is very affectionate, friendly and alert. Although she has spent most of her time outside, she is very eager and willing to learn new things. She is fine with other dogs and not quite sure what to do around a cat. Sheba seemed more afraid of the cat than anything else. Since she is so super sweet we think she would do just fine with kids too. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Sheba #4 |
Adopted! Our beautiful Sheba is a 3-4-year old, white female Shepherd who is spayed, up-to-date on all her shots, and weighs about 70 lbs. She is crate-trained and does reasonably well with cats. She is trusted in the house as she does not chew on things other than her own bones. She loves to ride in cars, and is happy to have a little wind blow in her face as she watches the world pass by. Sheba has good basic obedience. She will come when called, and is occasionally trusted off leash. She is very loyal to us and wants to please us in everything she does. Her big challenge in life is learning to play nicely with other dogs. She knows how to be very, very good all by herself, but she is not always sure how to react to other dogs. She is fine with her foster brothers and sisters, but she is unsure of herself with strange dogs. It reminds of us of being the new person in high school. She would be a great companion for the person or family looking for a ready-to-go companion dog. She would also do well with someone who wanted to take the time to show her that the world is full of wonderful, exciting things, especially when accompanied by a new best friend. |
![]() Sheba #5 |
Adopted! Hi! My name is Sheba and I'm just the cutest girl in a little package. I'm a year old and currently weigh about 40 pounds. I shouldn't get much larger so if you're looking for a smaller shepherd with abundant personality, here I am! I was a stray along with my Border Collie brother for about three weeks until this very nice lady took us in. She's been trying to find our owners, but they must have forgotten about us. I am extremely good around other dogs, cats and children. Everyone tells me I have a very sweet temperament, and I wag my tail a LOT just to prove it. I am currently living in a foster home in the Central Shenandoah Valley. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |

Adopted! Beautiful little Sheba is a petite girl that looks just like a long-haired German Shepherd. She was surrendered

and weighs about 48 pounds, not a big girl. She loves giving kisses and having her belly rubbed. She likes playing
with other dogs and we are working on living with cats (which is coming along well). She adores children and is
very gentle with them. She is house-trained, playful, likes to go for walks and loves to curl up at your feet for a

Adopted! This beautiful pure-bred, red-and-black German Shepherd was picked up as a stray, by animal control, with her name tag. No one came to claim Sheba. She appears to have had a rough life, without much love. Now she is making up for that that in her VGSR foster home. She loves her new family, follows dad everywhere. She's learning to play with her foster siblings. Sheba is about 3 years old and weighs 65 pounds. This sweet dog deserves a permanent home full of love and attention. Sheba is a gentle soul and may be good with children, although there are none in her foster home. She loved them at the Petsmart recently. Sheba will be your most devoted fan if you decide to adopt her. She is being fostered in Northern Virginia. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |

Adopted! Sheba is a 2-year-old, black-and-tan, German Shepherd. She is spayed, house-trained, and up-to-date on

will follow you around the house and lie down and wait outside doors when you are in another room. She is very
submissive to other dogs, and gets along well with children & cats. Sheba was reported to have separation anxiety
issues, but I have not personally encountered this issue to date. Of course, she is never alone in our house as our
3 GSDs are always there for company even when the humans are not. I believe it is being all alone in a quiet house
that brings out her reported separation issues, thus I would not recommend a home where she will be alone by
herself during the day or long stretches of time. Sheba is being fostered in the Shenandoah Valley. RDVA

Adopted! Sheba is a sweet, smart girl who came to us when her owner grew too old to care for her any longer. She was well taken

feeling insecure) when I first got her, she's made tremendous progress and lets all her buddies walk right into 'her' house when
we've got company. She loves playing ball although she needs work on 'drop it' and will happily carry any ball or toy along on
walks, too. She's very trustworthy off-leash as she prefers to be with people than off exploring by herself. Come see Sheba at
the Gainesville and Warrenton Adoption Days! KBVA

Shelbi |
Adopted! I don't know why my former owners abandoned me and left me to fend for myself in a scary house. Naturally, now I don't
want to be left in the house alone, so my foster parents let me stay in my crate whenever they are away. I like my crate and I

someone at home most of the day. Something punctured my left eye and now I have scar tissue that partially blocks my vision.
My foster Mom is putting drops in my eye and soon we will know if they are helping reduce the scar tissue so that I can see
more out of that eye. A little scar tissue doesn't bother me though. I love car rides, swimming, walks, tummy rubs, and being
with my foster family. I am content to be with my family while they are watching TV or working around the house. I keep an
eye on the front door, but I don't bark very much.. I have excellent house manners, know basic commands, learn quickly and I
want to please. I have been friendly and lived with other foster dogs, but I don't really like little dogs or alpha dogs. I get along
well with the 2 cats I live with now. I am a sweet girl, very easy to love, and I am looking for a forever home and someone who
will promise to never leave me. Please contact Trish at

![]() Shelby |
Adopted! Shelby is a beautiful three year old purebred female German Shepherd. She is already spayed and up-to-date on all her shots. She was pulled from the Nelson County Animal Control Facility as an owner surrender. The story was she kept climbing the fence and the neighbors threatened to shoot her. The owner said she's good with children, cats and other dogs. She knows sit, down, in your house and several other commands. She was a tad skittish when we first met her, but it didn't take long for her to settle right in. She was good in the car and actually lay down after she got her bearings - of course she was right back up at every stop! Once we know a little bit more about this gorgeous girl we will send in an update. Shelby is being fostered in the central Shenandoah Valley. < -- (click on this picture to view larger images) |
![]() Shelby #2 |
Adopted! Shelby is about 2.5 years old. She was abandoned, sick with a severe uterine infection, and wandering in a field all by
herself. She is recuperating nicely and shows more of her noble GSD traits every day. She will be spayed and up-to-date
on all her shots as soon as her vet says she is well. Shelby is living with several small children and other dogs in the house.
She likes everybody and wants to be involved with whatever they are doing. She is house-training, will sit, down; and just
get the car keys and she's ready to go. Need a little sweetheart in your home? Shelby's being fostered in Virginia Beach.

![]() Shep #2 |
Adopted! Shep's story is a familiar one - the little puppy got too big and was too much trouble in the house, so out he went.
Shep was tied to a tree and became very sick. A good neighbor took him in, got him to a vet and nursed him back to
health. As Shep got older, the good neighbor could no longer take care of him and turned him over to the Humane
Society who notified VGSR. In spite of all that, Shep is a happy boy, and is doing well with his house manners. He
loves to play with the other dogs, but sometimes gets a little rough with the small ones and is rather timid with the
older ones. He loves the water and playing in the kiddie pool. He actually will fetch a ball and give it back to you. The
cat is no problem - he barks at him once in a while, but mostly ignores him. He barks like crazy when someone comes
to the door, but then loves all the attention. Shep will need a family that is willing to devote a lot of time to his
socialization and training. GSAVA

She is less than 2 years old and loves to play with other dogs and chase her squeaky toys. She is a very playful girl with a sweet personality.
