VGSR's Adopted German Shepherd Dogs, C-D

Updated on Saturday, 04/12/2008

Cady

Adopted!

Hello, My name is Cady, and I am 3 and a half years old, and I am the sweetest and most gentle dog you will ever meet. I love to please and love to learn new tricks. I love to be around children and children think I am the sweetest thing. Take me out and about! I love car rides and will sit nicely outside of Starbucks with you. I also know my manners: I only bark when strangers come to the door or at suspicious noises. I never jump on furniture. I just want to be your friend! I also love my puppy, Sadie. We can entertain ourselves for hours together. RTVA
Adopted: 03/25/05.

Caesar

Adopted!

Caesar is a neutered, male GSD, approximately 4 years old. He originally came into the Rescue about 2 years ago when he was dumped out of a car. He would not make eye contact with a human and did not know how to play with toys or bones. He has built up some confidence and basic obedience but still needs some more socialization. He is a sweet dog, enjoys being around people and LOVES attention, especially belly rubs! An active household would be ideal for him since he loves the outdoors and needs exercise. After being overweight, he has been getting fitter but still has a few pounds to lose; his ideal weight should be around 110. He loves going on walks and is pretty good off a leash but needs to be worked with not to tug when on the leash. He is good with the other German Shepherd in his household, but tends to get overexcited around other dogs; he does not do well with small dogs or cats. He loves to be the center of attention and would probably do better in a home with no more than one other dog. He is okay with children over the age of 12. He is house-trained, but not crate-trained. Caesar attends adoption days regularly and would love to meet you. CJVA
Adopted: 02/17/06.

Caesar #3

Adopted!

Caesar was returned to the Orange County Animal Shelter in early April because his family was moving to a new place that wouldn't allow 3 dogs so they gave up this beautiful boy. Caesar is 104 lbs, playful and full of energy -- he'd do best in a home with a big yard and another dog to romp with. He has good house manners, walks pretty well on-leash, loves squeaky toys and although he's able to countersurf without lifting his head, he would rather play than eat. He does have some separation anxiety right now but we're working on that. Caesar is a lovable big lug of a dog and given the proper amount of exercise and training, he will make a wonderful addition to someone's family. KBVA
Adopted: 05/10/07.

Cain

Adopted!

Cain is a sweet little bundle of love. He is approximately 3 months old and was left at a shelter in Virginia Beach. Cain is wonderful with children, likes to sit, has a healthy curiosity about his foster family's kittens, and loves stuffed toys. He is ready for the big world now and very responsive to your voice. Even crate- and house-training are going well. Need a little sugar in your life?

Cain #3

Adopted!

Hello! I am Cain; a handsome, affectionate and very sweet 3-year-old, all-white German Shepherd Dog. I have lots of energy and I love to wrestle, run in the yard, chase the ball and go for walks. I wrestle and move around with great enthusiasm so my ideal new family will not have children under 8 years old. I give a healthy bark at the door, but meet all visitors with great interest and a wagging tail. I would play with the two cats I live with now if they would let me, but otherwise I have no interest. I am house-trained, crate-trained, and I ride well in the car. My current family of 3 years is very sad to be looking for a new home for me, so please only visit me if you have lots of love and affection to share.
Adopted: 02/25/07.

Cal

Adopted!

Cal is a handsome, good-natured 5 year-old, approximately 75 lb., neutered, male, white German Shepherd. He was found in Calvert County, MD, without a collar or tags. He has fully recovered from heartworm disease and is enjoying life as a much loved foster dog in downtown DC with his housemate Angel. Cal is a very sweet, loving, playful dog who is extremely happy to be living in a safe environment where he is valued and cared for. He returns the love 1000-fold every day and is definitely "all heart". He is a playful, almost puppy-like dog with a great appetite for life (as well as food and treats). He is extremely devoted to his human and while plays well with most other dogs, he has a tendency towards aggressiveness on the leash however. I have no doubt that after a short period of socialization with other dogs on leashes, he would be fine. I think that he is really more eager to play than to be aggressive. He and his foster sister get along famously. Cal is wonderful and very gentle with children. He would not be immediately good with cats as they seem to pique his prey instinct. Cal is house-trained and has outstanding "house manners". He does not appreciate being crated and there is no-reason that he needs to be crated. While he knows some basic commands, he could use a bit more training. He is a very active dog who loves to play and explore the wonders of urban life. He would also thrive in a suburban or country environment. He wants everyone he meets to be his friend and is truly deserving of a loving forever home. Please find room in your heart and in your home for this amazing boy. GRDC
Adopted: 01/12/06.

Calvin

Adopted!

Calvin is a beautiful male German Shepherd Dog, approximately 2 years old (?). He is friendly, and will readily become devoted to his new human companion. Calvin is about 75-80 pounds, still a little underweight, but he's healthy, has had his shots, and is soon to be neutered. Calvin is fine with other dogs after a proper introduction, and seems to be OK with cats. Calvin is currently located near Charlottesville, VA, but is willing to travel. He rides well in a car and seems to be housetrained. You can contact his foster home at vadogrescue@aol.com for more pictures or information.

Camden

Adopted!

Our Cammy is a super-sweet white GSD who was rescued on her last day at the shelter. After 8 years of loyal companionship to her family, they rewarded her by dumping her at the shelter after they had a baby. Her family said she was wonderful with the infant, but that they just didn't have time for Camden anymore. She has been to the vet and was deemed to be in excellent health. She acts more like a dog of two, and in fact romps and plays with her much younger foster siblings, yet settles quickly and loves to lie at your feet. She has a marvelous spring in her step! One of her favorite pastimes is being squirted with the garden hose while she chomps at the spray, full blast. After being abandoned, she has developed some separation anxiety? Who could blame her? She was the only child for 8 years. Now she never lets her foster mom out of her sight, and she will need a home where someone is around most of the time. She gets along great with kids, cats and other dogs, although she has been known to chase a cat for sport now and then. She is house-trained and loves car rides and cuddles. All she really wants is your companionship. Do you have time for Cammy? She will reward you tenfold.

Camille

Adopted!

Camille is a 4-month-old GSD mix rescued from a shelter a few days ago. She is a very sweet pup and loves to give little kisses. Camille also stands on her hind legs (very gracefully holding her own weight) then puts a paw on you so she can get more pets, hugs and kisses. Shadow already. When she earns a "good girl" she has the cutest bright/wide eyed expression and a tail that wags continuously with pride of accomplishment. First meeting with foster Brother Harley (100 lb GSD), sister Raven (Alpha-Blk Lab 65 lbs) and Sister Ginger (Golden Ret 75 lbs), Camille backed up, sat down and growled at all three of them through a baby gate. My we had a chorus here then! But after 24 hours of watching her new sibs she joined in the fun of racing around the yard, chasing balls and "de"stuffed animals. In between "puppy naps" her favorite game is hiding behind a bush/tree for 30 seconds until she leaps out and runs like the wind. The outside world was also new to her but she is not running back in the house as often now but lingers with us in the yard. Nighttime brings shadows, so she froze, barked and ran through the sliding screen to escape the monster. Between our laughter we were able to coax her out again and just sat holding her in the grass for a few minutes. Camille also climbed over a 42" x pen in 2 minutes flat so a fence 5-6 foot would be best for her. Today she went potty in the grass for the first time - before she would run back to her crate and use her newspaper. She does learn quickly and when praised for going potty outside she pranced around like a princess dressed for the ball. Camille also passed the 48 hour "kid" test unshaken by the 3, 6, 9 or 10 year old. Noise, running, hugging and even her tail tugged she just kissed them back. Our cat also made her back up and bark like "What was that and where did it come from?!?" She is a delightful petite, agile, resilient pup that would fit well in any family willing to give a little guidance, some laughter and lots of love/affection. She thrives on being close, cuddles and kisses you every chance she gets. My "pet name" for her is "Yetta" = "little one" in German my husband likes to call her "Peppy" as she races around him when he returns home from the office. Are you the right family to love and guide this delightful little pup so she will grow into a confident adult? DBTVA
Adopted: 05/05/06.

Canaan

Adopted!

Canaan is a very handsome two-year-old, black-and-tan GSD. At about 90 pounds, he is still thin, but is steadily putting on weight. Canaan was an owner surrender because he dug under the fence and escaped from his yard. It's obvious to his foster mom that his previous owners didn't realize what they were giving up as he is a real sweetheart. Canaan has settled into foster life with ease and is enjoying all the attention he receives from his foster canine sister and his foster humans. He is learning his basic commands and knows more than he likes to admit. Canaan needs a home where he can continue these lessons. While Canaan is very inquisitive and alert, he is cautious with strangers and new activities. His foster family thinks that his previous interaction with people was limited. It takes him a little time to warm up but then he enjoys the subsequent playing, petting and/or snuggling. He plays nonstop with his GSD foster sister, rough housing and teasing, and shares her toys. Canaan has done well with other big dogs that he has met while in foster care. He is not good with cats. Canaan needs a family that will spend quality time with him, providing love and training. He is being fostered in Northern VA. KHVA
Adopted: 06/06/04.

Candy

Adopted!

Candy is a beautiful girl. Her father is a Czech Police dog and her Mom is from West Germany. She has that nice build. We got her at 12 weeks old and brought her to our home. She has been inside until approximately 8 weeks ago. Due to health problems we can no longer keep her. She is house-trained and crate-trained. She hasn't been destructive in our home. She will move things from one room to another, but never has she harmed the sock or brush or whatever she picked up. She has good house manners and likes to sit on the couch in your lap, but then will go and lie in her cubby (crate) and rest. She likes her cubby. She likes to chase the cats here, but never ever hurts them. I think they like it, too. She plays with a Lhasa Apso and is very careful not to bite hard. If the small dogs whimpers she stops right away. She has all the energy of an 8-9-month-old GSD puppy. But she also calms well. She comes when you call her and likes to be petted. She is a wonderful dog and we regret that we must part with her, but are confident that the rescue will find her a wonderful home. If you are looking for a great love, she will give you all her love and devotion.
Adopted: 09/20/06.

Candy Cane

Adopted!

Candy Cane is just as sweet as her name. Candy LOVES people and wants to give kisses to everyone. She seems to be house-trained, but she has not been here long enough for us to know for sure! She did fine with some cats in a cage at the shelter, but she gave my cat here a pretty good barking, so the jury is still out about the cat thing. She loves to cuddle in bed and is anxiously waiting for the other dogs here to play with her. Candy is very gentle taking treats and not at all mouthy like most shepherd pups. She is definitely still a puppy and will grab things, run away with them and give them a thorough and proper chewing if she has a chance! Candy also loves to watch TV! A commercial came on and when a chocolate Lab appeared on the screen, she actually started barking at him. SLVA

Carley

Adopted!

Carley is a gorgeous, 3-year-old, cream & black, female german shepherd. She is friendly and a great companion. Carley is good with other dogs. We are still learning about Carley.

Carley

Adopted!

This basket baby is Carley. After being sold in front of a Walmart as a young puppy, Carley lived a dangerous life, until she was handed over to VGSR. Now she is safe in a foster home. This 5-month-old cutie-pie is getting a new start on life. A patient foster mom is teaching her to trust people and be part of the foster family. She loves all her doggy siblings and will be house- and leash-trained by her foster parents. We've have been told that Carley has a heart murmer that may effect her ability to live a normal long and healthy life. Carley is in Northern Virginia. Carley was examined by Dr. Lefbom of CVCA (Chesapeake Veterinary Cardiology Associates) who diagnosed her with Patent ductus arteriosus. Without a surgical repair, her life span would be 2-3 years total. With surgical ligation her prognosis is good for close to normal lifespan. Her surgery is scheduled for July 7th. The total bill for surgery and hospitalization will be around $2400.00 to $2600.00. Ouch! If you would like to make a donation to help us offset these expenses, it would be truly appreciated. Thanks for caring.

Carma

Adopted!

Carma is one amazing girl. A kind soul rescued her from a ditch on the side of a road, where she lay injured after having been hit by a car. Her wounds are healed and she's now ready to rock and roll. Wrestling with her foster GSD brother, chasing balls, tug-of-war, being petted and brushed, and snuggling are her favorite activities. She is looking for a home where her mind will be challenged and her basic obedience training continued. She's still a bit on the cautious-side with new things, but responds well to encouragement from a "coach" and is getting more confident every day. EJVA
Adopted: 08/11/07.

Carmen

Adopted!

Darling Carmen is a 4-month-old puppy. She is black and tan, weighing in at 35 pounds. Carmen is trying not to be overwhelmed at her foster home. She wants to play with the big dogs, but she is too young. Carmen is a stray from the shelter and is being a very brave puppy about all the new things she has to learn. She would feel more secure and safe in a permanent home. Carmen is a pretty puppy with a sweet personality, confidence and intelligence.

Casey

Adopted!

Casey is a big, sweet, beautiful male. He's black and tan, about 90 pounds and acts like a big, sweet, teddy bear. Casey is good with cats, kids and other dogs. His favorite pastime is chasing the birds in the yard. Casey is being surrendered, reluctantly, by his owner and would love to become part of your family.

Casey #3

Adopted!

Hi, my name is Casey. I am new to Virginia German Shepherd Rescue. I am between 9 months and one year old. I weigh 48.3 lbs. My foster mom rescued me from the shelter. I sit, come, and play with other dogs and love children. I am a pure-bred German Shepherd. I was never allowed to have my puppy play till my foster mom rescued me. I am house-broken. I love to lie on the couch with my foster mom, even though she is trying to train me not to get on the couch. I never had the attention and love before my foster mom and family gave it to me! I am very smart and I always want to be doing things like my foster mom will hide my ball and she will ask me, "Casey get your ball." and I always find it. I am curious about other animals like birds in the sky, squirrels, and rabbits. But since I never had a real puppy life, I guess that this is ok. I'm learning and seeing new things that I never saw before. I will probably weigh between 70 and 75 lbs. once I am grown-up. I need a lot of T.L.C. which I never had until I was rescued. I am very lovable little girl, and I know that there is someone looking for a Shepherd like me.

Casey #5

Adopted!

Casey is a not quite 2-year-old male, German Shepherd Dog. He's going to be a gorgeous dog when he grows up and gains some much needed weight. He's named Casey because he must have been on the streets for quite a while and looks like he has been in a couple of bar brawls and has been saved from the brink (Animal Control) in the nick of time. He is a real pushover at heart though, sweet and lovable; and would do anything for a toy or biscuit. He is in training now and has learned to stay in a crate, sit, down, and he even shakes hands and that's after only one week, this guy is really smart. Casey walks on a leash and greets everyone he meets with a smile and a wag of the tail; he loves kids and gets along with other dogs. We are working on the cat issue; he just loves to chase furry animals that run from him. Casey will make a wonderful lifelong companion won't you give him a safe home? DBTVA
Adopted: 09/18/04.

Casey #6

Adopted!

Very handsome Casey is a ten-month-old, male, neutered, GSD puppy. He is good with children, friendly with other dogs and an all around nice pooch. He is crate-trained, house-trained, and likes to ride in the car. He is currently living near Chantilly, VA. He does have a grade 2 heart murmur but the cardiologist who tested him said that he should be just fine. SLVA
Adopted: 04/10/05.

Casey #7

Adopted!

Casey is a beautiful, affectionate German Shepherd that turns heads and wins friends and admirers wherever she goes. This big girl is sometimes mistaken for a "wolf" or a "malamute" of some kind, but she is a pure-bred GSD that just happens to have unusual snow-white coloring and statuesque size. Casey adores people and loves getting belly rubs and back scratches. She has a very sweet temperament and would do well as a therapy dog in hospitals or nursing homes, as she eagerly accepts attention from all kinds of people (especially if they have treats!). Casey is also an active dog that enjoys taking long hikes in the woods around Rock Creek and Lake Frank near her foster home in Rockville, Maryland. She is a natural swimmer and will occasionally chase balls and sticks thrown into the water for her. Casey has suffered a fair amount of loss in her life (her owner died, her litter(s) of puppies were taken away from her), and she is looking for a long-term, committed relationship with a new someone who will love her forever and give her a stable home. WMMD
Adopted: 12/18/05.

Cash

Adopted!

Cash is a mixed little fella probably with some Doberman and maybe some Rotty. He always has a very serious expression in his little eyes. The only things on his agenda according to him are: eating - sleeping - playing (in that exact order). He paces the floor back and forth when I fix his meals. Come and meet this little fella at an Adoption Event. LTVA

Casie

Adopted!

Casie is a sweetheart girl with one floppy ear and a beautiful fur coat. She's very well-behaved, responds well to commands and is really smart. About 11 years old, she came through a shelter from an elderly couple who loved her with food. She's about 20 lbs. overweight and the vet says it has to come off. So she's on a daily walking program which she is not enthusiastic about, but she trots along like a good sport and has already done the Appalachian Trail and the 3.5 miles trail at the Virginia State Arboretum. But hanging out and dog napping are her favorite pursuits, and she doesn't know how to play ball or fetch the stick. She's very good with children, cats and other dogs. Have not tried her yet with a crate as she doesn't seem to like to be confined, but she has her own room to sleep in which she seems to like. If you have a nice retirement spot in your life for Casie, she's your gal.
Adopted: 01/21/07.

Casper

Adopted!

Casper is a wonderful dog, sure to fill anyone's heart with unconditional love and companionship. He is a pure white, 2 year old pup, weighing about 65 lbs. He is very sweet and loveable wanting to do nothing more then spend time with his owner. He has had obedience training and knows: sit, down, come, stay, paw, go to bed and inside. He is an excellent companion who will follow you everywhere you go. Casper is a very active dog who loves to play and wrestle with our other pup, fetch, take car rides, go for long walks, jogs and hikes. (He is great on his leash.) He is healthy, neutered, up-to-date on all his shots, house-broken and even has a microchip. He is great with kids of all ages, other female dogs and older male dogs. Casper is, however, a very self-assured young pup and therefore does not get along too well with other young males. As far as cats, we're not too sure, but he has chased one or two up a tree. Casper needs a loving home where someone is around all or most of the time. He has separation anxiety and is very anxious when left alone for the better part of the day. He cannot be crated. Despite our efforts to crate train him properly, he continually broke out of the crate causing undue emotional and physical stress to himself. He also does not cooperate with electric fences and should not be walked/run/hiked off lead.

Cassie #2

Adopted!

Cassie is a lovely black-and-red GSD, 3-4 years old, and underweight at 65 lbs. She was picked up as a stray and looks as though she has had a hard life. Cassie is as sweet as they come, very quiet, well-mannered, and loves everybody she meets. She gets along with male dogs, but females are an unknown. The vet tech said she got very excited at the sight of a cat, so she will need a home with no cats. She loves playing ball and will nose the ball to your feet just to continue her game. She knows some basic commands and walks well on the leash. Cassie is being treated for a leg wound, skin condition and malnutrition. Dental work has been done to correct sharp edges on some of her teeth and a cracked tooth was extracted. She is gaining weight, will be well soon and ready for her new family. Cassie is being fostered in Northern Virginia. GSAVA
Adopted: 05/06/04.

Cassius

Adopted!

Cassius has it all - looks, training, and personality. His owners moved and could not take him with them. He has been treated well and is a terrific, laid-back kind of guy that gets along with everybody and everything. The cat may be the exception - he pesters the cat to make him run, but otherwise ignores him. He will be okay with a dog-savvy cat. He is obedient, knows his basic commands and more, loves to go for a walk or ride. He gets along very well with other dogs, male and female. He is energetic outside and runs the fenceline with the other dogs. He is loving and very well-mannered in the house. He's not a velcro GSD and spends his down time sleeping in the bath tub or laying on the porch watching people and cars go by. Cassius isn't looking for an playmate, but would do well with laid-back company. If you would like more information, you can contact his foster home at sgrimes1@cox.net. GSAVA

Castro

Adopted!

Castro is a handsome guy, a black and tan pure-bred German Shepherd. He was surrendered to the shelter because his family couldn't afford a dog at this time. He is 80 pounds and 2 years old. He couldn't be happier in his new VGSR foster home. He spends his days playing with the other dogs and his nights dreaming about finding a permanent home soon. He promises to be the best dog ever for the family that will commit to his care and love him forever. Castro continues to surprise us with what he knows. He can sit, shake, down & stay on command. He is house-trained and a professional ball chaser. At the recent Petfest, Castro was seen with 6 very young children crawling all over him, so we assume he would do well in a home with children. It appears that he would also be an awesome service and/or therapy dog. Castro is being fostered in Northern Virginia.

Cecilia

Adopted!

Cecilia is a sweetie who is between 10 months and 1 year and will be on the smaller side of shepherdhood, weighing a mere 42 lbs. We've actually started calling her "Seal" at my house because when she wrestles with my 3 year old shepherd, she starts growling and barking like a seal! (-: She has been to the dog park and seems to get along well with all other dogs. She adores Carolena the girl "dog tester" and will do anything she asks of her. She is 99% housebroken (which is amazing since she was NOT housebroken 2 weeks ago). She rides great in the car and loves to go for long walks. She attaches herself to people very quickly and will make someone a terrific companion for life!!

Celia

Adopted!

Celia is a terrific girl - one of the best fosters I've ever had! She was picked up as a stray in Augusta County, VA, and skinny as can be. Since she's been with VGSR, she's put on weight and at approximately 78 lbs., she looks great. She's a very pretty short-coat, red sable with big ears that look even bigger on her slender build. Celia is eager to please and, therefore, she obeys well and can be trusted OFF-leash! She's very sweet and friendly with people and dogs (although she always has to put on a show' of barking at a new dog even though all she wants to do is play). She loves to play with dogs AND people but she's a little mouthy so she needs to be in a family with no kids or older kids, 10 years +. Despite her high energy, she's quick to lie down and relax. She's crate-trained and I've almost got her completely house-trained but that's just a matter of figuring out each other's schedules. Celia would definitely make a wonderful buddy for someone. KBVA

Champ

Adopted!

Champ is a magnificent, pale silver and black German Shepherd male. He is 9 months old, and still acts like a puppy. Champ weighs-in at 70 pounds and still has some growing to do. He enjoys non-stop play in his foster home, playing with the other dogs. Champ needs some obedience training and will be a quick learner. He is friendly and sweet. Champ is a young dog that wants a family that will include him in everything they do.

Champ #3

Adopted!

This handsome fellow's name is Champ, and he is a four-year-old, neutered male GSD. He is a bit shy until he knows you, and then you find out what an affectionate fellow he can be! He has a fabulous temperament and loves to play, especially with balls. He is up to date on all of his vaccines and now just looking for a family to love. He is being fostered in Bedford, VA.

Champ #4

Adopted!

This extra large fellow will steal your heart with his friendly smile. Champ is a gentle giant with a large personality. About 2 years old, Champ should weigh at least 110 pounds. He was surrendered to the shelter when his family moved without him. Poor Champ couldn't understand how they could leave him behind. Neither can we. Everyone loves Champ. He is submissive to other dogs and loves to play with all dogs and people. This high-energy boy will need a permanent family that will commit to giving him lots of exercise, so he can stretch those long legs. This is not a dog for a couch potato. His foster mom is so impressed with his intelligence, she teaches him new tricks all the time. Champ is house-trained, and is allowed out of the crate while foster-mom is at work, as he does not chew anything that is not his to chew. Champ is being fostered in Maryland and will be at adoption days in Northern Virginia.

< -- (click on this picture to view larger images)

Champ #6

Adopted!

Champ is a stunning black-and-red GSD with a wide German head, lovely brown eyes, and a glorious tail. This very masculine boy is classically beautiful, and he has a classically lovely GSD temperament to match. Champ is a big, strong dog, but he is also gentle, sweet, and willing, and he is good with people and other dogs. He is very interested in sniffing the 5 cats in his foster home and may ultimately be good with them as well; the jury is still out on that decision, however, as Champ has only been in his foster home for 3 days at this writing. Champ is looking for someone who will take him hiking, biking, and jogging in the woods and fields, as he is very athletic and loves to be out investigating the world. He knows some basic obedience commands (Sit, Down, Come, Wait), but would like to go to dog school to learn more exercises and to bond strongly with his new person. If you are an active, outdoorsy person with a love for big, gorgeous, goofy GSDs, Champ may be the dog for you! WMMD
Adopted: 06/05/05.

Charley

Adopted!

How many dogs do you know that like to eat carrots and apples? Charley enjoys eating both fruits and vegetables, too. He is an eight-month-old, mostly GSD who is house-trained, gets along fine with other dogs, knows sit, stay and is even rumored to open doors. He is one smart cookie! If you are looking for a young, smart pooch who will respond well to training, please contact us about meeting Charley. He is staying in Northern Virginia.
Adopted: 03/13/05.

Charlie

Adopted!

Hi! My name is Charlie. I love playing ball, fetch, and frizbee. I love my tennis ball. I'm also crate trained and housebroken. I am Max's oldest brother. I am 2.5 years old, and weigh 80 lbs. I am neutered. I love children, car rides, walking and jogging. I sit, jump up, and down when asked. I love everything that my little brother likes to do. We like learning to do new things, and we would love to be able to stay together. We know that there is a family, or someone that is single that would love and adore having both of us. We are very good guys. And we also like a lot of TLC. Is there someone out there that would love two intelligent Shepherds? My foster mom forgot to put my little brother's weight down. Max weighs 80 lbs. We know that there is a home for us somewhere. Could it be yours?

Charlie #2

Adopted!

Lets Play! Charlie is a happy, active, submissive, German Shepherd mix that loves to play with everyone (2 or 4 legs). He is friendly, energetic, and he likes to be near his humans. He is good with our kids (ages 3 and 9 years) and gets along fine with our GSD. Charlie is learning to "sit", and "down" and walk at the "heel" position. He enjoys our daily long walks, and he may make a good jogging partner. Charlie would make a wonderful family dog, a great choice for a committed first-time owner, or a happy addition to a family looking for a second dog. If you are an approved adopter, contact us, if not - start the approval process so you can meet Charlie!. If you are an approved adopter, contact us via e-mail at dogsalmosthome@yahoo.com so you can meet Charlie. WJMD

Charlie #3

Adopted!

Hi! My name is Charlie. I'm a 2-year-old, male GSD. I'm up-to-date on all my shots, and I just got neutered (OUCH!). My coat is black, brown and tan, and I've been told I'm a very pretty boy. I have had a rotten life so far, so I'm really excited about finding my forever home. My food was not fed to me on a regular basis, so I might get a little possessive of my food bowl. I think kids over 7 would probably be best for me. My manners aren't up to paw, so I will need to go to obedience school. But, I'm smart, so I promise I'll do well. Please give me a chance to show you what a good boy I can be. If you are interested in meeting me, please contact tazi54@aol.com via e-mail.
Adopted: 08/24/07.

Chase

Adopted!

Chase is a very handsome, purebred, 4 year old living in Virginia Beach. What a warm friendly perfect gentleman in the house who never touches anything except his own toys. He loves car rides; his leash gets him racing to the door although he will pull without firm reminders to heel. His favorite toys are stuffed squeak's, balls; tug of war game and just cuddling at your feet. He has done well with visiting children, dogs and seems to ignore small animals. Chase's family has moved into a small condo and feels they cannot provide the attention and exercise he needs. Chase would be good with a working adult family or older children. Do you have room in your home and heart for this fine young man?

Chase #2

Adopted!

Chase is an energetic and playful, 9-week-old pup that loves attention. He and his brother, Chico, love the outdoors and he is making great headway in his housebreaking training. If you're looking for a fun-loving and playful pup, Chase is for you!

Cherokee

Adopted!

Look up "Cherokee" in Websters and you find the following defination: "Large, well-behaved, gentle, good-natured, gorgeous, female, German Shepherd looking for a great forever home ". OK, that may be a stretch, but it certainly describes this wonderful girl perfectly ! Cherokee recently came to VGSR from Spotsylvania animal shelter where she was found wandering as a stray. She was dirty and smelly and about 15 lbs. overweight when she arrived. After a full checkup and clean bill of health (she did test positve for limes disease but had no symptoms and has finished her antibiotic treatment), she has settled quickly into her foster home. Her foster dad reports that she is loving, gentle, well behaved, great with kids and other dogs and walks well on a lead. She is more of a lounge girl than a fetcher/player (fetch what ?? I'd rather sit here next to you, thank you very much !) but she is getting more playful with each passing day. With a few shampoo makeovers and some diet control, she has blossomed into a very gorgeous 85 lb. girl that is just right for her good size. Everyone that has met her comments on how well behaved and easy to handle she is. Why anyone would leave her for stray is a huge mystery to us at VGSR's but here is a chance to adopt a great girl that can go to any good home - especially a first time GSD owner.
Adopted: 10/04/05.

Cheyenne

Adopted!

Cheyenne is a very sweet, loving, affectionate, cuddly little girl. Right now she weighs 60 pounds; I am feeding her a little extra and walking her about two hours a day. She eats 3 cups twice a day, with her medication. Cheyenne has Pancreatitis, for which she takes medication, about $40.00/month. She barks at the door when she hears somebody outside. She is on the small size for a German Shepherd, and is purebred. She is short-haired compared to most German Shepherds. Shedding is kept to a minimum when brushed gently each day. She is playful with her toys and people. She is submissive with dominant dogs. She is playful with other dogs when she is not restrained on leash. She has a great time in the dog parks and gets lots of exercise. When she is on leash, she barks and pulls very hard. She needs discipline and basic obedience. She never refuses being petted. She is at the center of her world. When she wants to be petted, she will push her head under your hand aggressively and forcefully until you give in and pet her. She is crate-trained and likes to go in and out of it during the day while you are there. She loves to go for rides in the car. She 'likes' rodents, rabbits, cats, and ferrets for all the wrong reasons, and should be kept separate from these pets!

Cheyenne #2

Adopted!

Cheyenne (#2) is a two year old, beautiful black and tan female. Although, a youngster herself, she was given to us with her pup. Lily. They look very much alike. Cheyenne is a very energetic, devoted girl. She is a good listener and a quick learner. Cheyenne is very attached to her pup. Cheyenne is good with kids and other dogs. She wants a home where she can romp and play forever. She has also passed the cat test.

Cheyenne #3

Adopted!

Cheyenne, "Chey Chey", is a lovely 4-5-year-old GSD. Her family could no longer care for her so they took her to a shelter where we found her. She is very well-mannered in the house, sits and comes when she is called. She's house-trained, crate-trained, up-to-date with all vet care, and newly spayed. Chey would love to sit in your lap and follow you from room to room. She loves to eat and has quickly put on the additional pounds she needed. Cheyenne has the most endearing quality of wanting to shake as you can see from her picture and lots of sweet GSD kisses. Cheyenne is living in Virginia Beach. DBTVA

Cheyenne Little Dream

Adopted!

Cheyenne Little Dream is not much more than a year old. She was found wandering in Suffolk, Virginia, by Animal Control who called us about this sweetie when no one claimed her. Cheyenne is great with her (Virginia Beach) foster mom's 3-year-old child. She gets along well with other dogs, cats, fish, and even their Guinea Pig. She is only about 45 lb. right now, but should be closer to 65 so a good nutritional diet is coming her way. Cheyenne has really surprised us with her good manners, house-brokenness, heeling, sitting, down, off and stay responses. So why didn't her owners come for her! She would love a home with children and hopefully another dog since Cheyenne does not like to be left when her humans go out unless she can buddy up with the other dogs.

Chico

Adopted!

Hi! My name is Chico, and I am a very playful 14-week-old GSD pup. At least my foster family thinks I am a full black German Shepherd. My mom was a black and tan GSD and she lived with an all black male GSD who they think was my dad. I am crate-trained and house-trained, and I also know a few basic commands like sit, lie, and shake paws! I get along wonderfully with my foster family's other dogs and teenage kids, but I haven't met a cat yet. I am looking for an experienced dog person or family that can continue my obedience training, for I will probably be about 100 lbs. when I am fully grown. I can be a little stubborn at times, but with continued training, I will make a great watch dog and companion.

Chief

Adopted!

Chief is a 10-month-old, black-and-tan, male, pure-bred German Shepherd that was surrendered by his family due to a move. He has an outstanding personality! He gets along with my 4 children very well and would love to play with my 3 dogs if only they would lighten up a bit. I am not sure how he does around cats but I do have 6 of them, so I should be able to tell soon. He is going to be neutered on April 4th. His tag # is 956 and he is being fostered in Smithfield, VA. Chloe #3

Adopted!

Chloe is a 10-month-old German Shepherd/Siberian Husky mix with a luxurious coat of sable fur, lovely facial markings, a white chest, and white stockings. She is an exuberant, inquisitive, joyful dog with an enormous amount of love to give and a great desire to share experiences with her people. Chloe enjoys "helping" her foster mom water plants, dust furniture, and perform other household chores (everything is interesting to this little girl!). Chloe also loves wrestling and playing with her foster dog siblings, especially Cooper (see below), and she would like to live in a home with another canine buddy or two. True to her German Shepherd heritage, Chloe is extremely bright and eager to please. She is looking for a person who will take her to dog school to ensure that she receives adequate mental as well as physical stimulation. On the latter point, Chloe enjoys going for long hikes in the woods and fields along Rock Creek and Lakes Frank and Needwood in Rockville, and she loves chasing other dogs while they chase balls at the tennis courts (maybe soon she will chase balls on her own!). If you are an active, outdoorsy person with lots of love to share with a young dog, Chloe may be the one for you! WMMD
Adopted: 03/21/05.

Chris

Adopted!

I am new to the Rescue, my name is Chris. I am a male pup who is around 3 months old. My foster mom seems to think that I might be a purebred GSD, but at this age, it is kind of hard to tell. I am a total snuggle buddy and I really enjoy a good cuddle. I get along just great with people and other dogs. I had lots of fun at the adoption day giving kisses to everyone who was telling me how cute I am! My foster mom said that she is very impressed with me so far! I know how to "sit", and walk well on the leash, just like a big boy! And over night I was a very good boy - My foster mom was very happy that I waited to go potty until she took me outside this morning after spending the night in my crate. You can read more about me after my foster mom gets to know me a little better! Right now I am staying in MD. EPMD
Adopted: 04/10/04.

Cleatus #2

Adopted!

This gorgeous black teddy bear was born on Nov. 28th, 2003. He is a big boy, 91 pounds, but could stand to lose at least five pounds. His ideal weight would probably be around 80 pounds. Cleatus loves everyone, adults, kids, other dogs, cats, you name it. He has even been around horses and cows. Cleatus is extremely sweet and would not hurt a fly. Cleatus was given up by an 86-year-old lady who could no longer handle him. He was not properly socialized, so new things scare him, but he is so young that with the proper socialization and lots of love and patience, it can make up for lost times. Unfortunately, according to vet records, he has a history of abuse but despite it all, he is still the sweetest boy who wants nothing but to give you all his love. Cleatus likes to play fetch but is best as velcro dog. Come out and meet Cleatus at one of our adoption events, you will not regret meeting him. VCMD
Adopted: 03/28/05.

Cleo #2

Adopted!

Look at beautiful Cleo. She is a long-haired purebred German Shepherd born March 2002, weighing 65 pounds. Cleo is red and black, with gorgeous silver highlights. Bred from German lines, complete with her registry tattoo, lovely Cleo is extremely smart and affectionate. She loves everyone, has had a basic obedience class and knows her commands in German. Cleo would excel at almost any advanced class and would love more training to keep her challenged. House-,crate-, and leash trained she would be a good dog for a novice. Recently, my 8 year old niece took her for a supervised walk around the block. Cleo is reported to be good with very young children and appears to be disinterested in cats. A gentle soul that loves to play with her foster siblings, she would be happy to just wrap herself around your ankles. Cleo is a good car rider and loves to chase the ball. She also has a shy mellow side and is not much of a loud barker (by GSD standards). Cleo has separation anxiety, that will dissolve with some love and patience, so she can not be placed in a home where there is a long work day. Cleo is being fostered in Northern Virginia.

Chloe

Adopted!

Chloe is a black and red lady, with lovely blonde highlights on her face and tail. She is great with little kids and other dogs. Gentle, quiet and very attentive, Chloe loves to ride in the car and go for easy leash walks. About 5 years old, she should weigh about 70-75 pounds, but has slimmed down too much on the "stray-dog diet". Chloe has dignity and grace, with a calm personality. When my 6 year old niece met her, she said, "She is just like a princess." Chloe does look like royalty.

Chyna

Adopted!

Chyna is an inquisitive puppy, very interested in her environment, sociable, and seeks attention but is not demanding of it. She is comfortable with being touched and hugged, and while she has the will of a Shepherd, she did let me look at her teeth with only a little resistance. When we passed Mac, the shelter cat, she was very interested and sniffed at him. Then it appeared that she decided he was a puppy (he IS big!)--she crouched down in front with her butt in the air and would definitely have jumped at him to play had she not been on a lead. She wants to play with the other dogs in the kennel as well. I haven't seen her with any children, but she is a playful puppy. She had no aggression with objects, pig ear, or food. She has had no obedience training. She is six months old, is spayed, and is current on all her shots.

Clea

Adopted!

Meet the strikingly beautiful Miss Clea. She is a very large-sized, four-year-old, plush-coated, black-and-red GSD. Clea is spayed, house-trained, and very sweet natured with people. She is a bit shy until she gets to know you, and then she is quite affectionate, rolling over for belly rubs. She was sent to school for obedience training and knows her basic commands. Her leash manners could use some improvement! Clea is not great with other dogs, so she should be an only pet. Do you have room in your heart for this gorgeous girl?

< -- (click on this picture to view larger images)

Cleatus

Adopted!

Cleatus is a rather large fellow who is around a year old and still kind of at the "gangly" stage. We do not have a lot of information about him just yet. We do know that he is very friendly, gets along great with other dogs, rides well in the car, and he has not yet tried to jump my four foot fence (which he could EASILY clear!) He is a thin 80 lbs at the time and will be a BIG BOY when he gets filled in. More information will follow as we learn more about him. Stay tuned!

< -- (click on this picture to view larger images)

Cleo

Adopted!

Cleo is a magnificent, 3-year-old, long-haired, female Shepherd. Her coat is full and beautiful. She is a very large dog, and tops the scales around 95 lbs. She is fit and loves to run. She was recently brought into rescue, along with her mother, Maya. I believe that tonight is the first night she has ever spent away from her mother. She is understandably nervous, and comes to us for comfort. They had been kept outdoors, but so far, Cleo has behaved beautifully in the house. She has not had any accidents, and has not protested going into her extra-large crate, even though I doubt she has ever been in one before. She doesn't show any signs of formal obedience training, so a training class is a must. She is exceptionally strong, and must learn how to walk properly on a lead. She is a very sweet dog, and she loves to have her belly rubbed. She will also readily put her paw on us to get our attention. She has not been allowed to meet the other dogs in the home yet. It's not clear if she has had the opportunity to socialize with other dogs beside her mother, and she is unsure of their intentions. She appears to be very friendly with people. I don't know how she acts around children, but I don't recommend her for a family with small children simply because of her size. She has just been spayed, so she is recovering from the operation. She is up-to-date on all her vaccinations, and is heartworm negative.

Clooney

Adopted!

Clooney is our star. He was picked up as a stray with his running mate, Emily. Clooney is close to a year old and from the looks of his feet still has some growing to do. He currently weighs 73 pounds, but with his plush coat and bushy tail, looks like he weighs more. The pair came from a rural shelter but seem to have some good manners. Clooney is a good car rider, knows stairs and was very tolerant of the long bath he received. The vet couldn't stop admiring his good looks and funny personality. Clooney is a little shy and fancies himself to be a lap dog when he needs a little reassurance. He gets along with dogs and people, large and small. Clooney is a smart boy and a quick learner. He is looking forward to finding a permanent home and we are sure he won't be looking long. Clooney is being fostered in Northern Virginia.

Clutch

Adopted!

Clutch is a beautiful, 6-month-old GSD with papers. His owners gave him up to a shelter and a very nice lady found him and brought him to us. Clutch is very well-behaved for a pup. He loves to play, cuddle, and sits right beside you when not in your lap. He is crate-trained and has not had a single accident in the house. Other dogs seem to be fine with him, especially his Golden Retriever foster sister. Clutch has a very gentle nature, lots of kisses, loves toys and bones, and has the most expressive eyes you'll ever see. He seems to be struggling with some growing pains so we are working on his diet, too. He is approximately 50 pounds and looks as though he will grow to be a large handsome GSD. Clutch is living in Virginia Beach, but he sure would have liked to play in the snow up north.

Clyde

Adopted!

Clyde is a two year old male import (from Pennsylvania) with papers (indicating that he's had vaccines) who is well-trained to voice commands (he knows how to sit). Seriously, Clyde is a very nice, well mannered boy recently rescued when he ran out of time at a shelter. Although only in foster care a few short hours, he's getting along well with the other dogs here (all females), infact he's a bit intimidated by all the attention that he's getting from the other dogs! He's got the classic good looks and attitude of a shepherd included in his larger than usual package. He is a big boy, and could gain a few pounds - topping out at an ideal weight of 90-95 lbs. More info to come. Clyde is being fostered in Maryland, and looks forward to meeting you soon.

CN

Adopted!

Looking for tall, dark and handsome? Bingo! You found him. His name is CN and he's almost 5 years old. He is a VERY tall boy, and underweight at 83 lbs. He could stand to gain 5-10 lbs. He's good with most other dogs, but would prefer not to share a home with a dominant male dog. CN loves to play ball and chase frisbees, and will fetch for hours on end (yes, he even brings back the ball!). He was surrendered to a local shelter, and is reported to be good with kids 4 years and up, but does NOT LIKE CATS. He knows some basic obedience, but is not sedentary in the least. He is crate-trained in his foster home and rides very well in the car. CN will be attending Northern Virginia adoption events, and interested parties are welcome to contact his foster mom at barbie@shepherdrescue.org for more information. DBMD

Cocoa

Adopted!

This little morsel is Cocoa. I am 9 months old, house-trained, crate-trained, and also walk well on a leash. I know how to sit, get down when I jump up on my foster mom, give paw for treats, and sit. For a 9 month old puppy, I am very well behaved. I love to play with my toys and other dogs. I look at cats, but really leave them alone. I am looking for my forever family that will take time with me and give me love. I will give my forever family all the love in the world, and also go to puppy training classes. Cocoa is a sweetheart, and loves to be center of attention. She would do best being the only dog. You will not want to pass up this sweetheart! You will fall in love with Cocoa. She loves everyone see meets. Cocoa is being fostered in Maryland. EPMD

Coconut

Adopted!

This little jewel is quite precious. When she came into rescue, she was quite the bag of bones. Now, she's eating well (kinda protective over her food) but if you saw her you'd know why. I really can't imagine what this little girl went through on her own. But she's got good spirits and she loves to play with the other dogs. She has a little temper that needs to be worked on. BUT, she is gonna make someone a really good pet. Come and meet her soon. LTVA

He will make a great dog for most anyone who is willing to put in some time and attention and return even a portion of his devotion. Cody

Adopted!

Cody tops the scales at over 120 lbs, and is not overweight. He's a tremendously large guy. He's affectionate, and amazingly does well on a leash, once settled. He is the proud dad of Maggie's new litter of puppies. Cody has an appointment to be neutered, and to finish his vaccinations. Since Cody is so new to us, we still have much to learn about him.

Cody #2

Adopted!

Cody is a sweet, loving, German Shepherd mix that will bring warmth and joy to any home, in exchange for affection and excellent care. Cody was abandoned by an uncaring family in West Virginia and has been fed outside by a kind but allergic neighbor since June 2003. She is a spayed, female shepherd mix, 60 lbs., approximately 3 years old. She is GREAT with kids and other dogs. No dominance issues, however, she chases cats! She received a full veterinary check up on 1 October, 2003. She was given all of her shots and needs a booster shot on 22 October. She was tested for heartworm and results will be available on 9 October. Her fecal exam was positive for worms, and she was given the first round of medicine to eliminate the worms. The next pill is due on 22 October, and the final pill is due in early January 2004. She does not have fleas. All veterinary records, and booster schedules will be given to her new guardians. Cody went to the "hairdresser" on 3 October for good bath and brushing. Cody's disposition is sweeter than sweet. She loves to run and play with other dogs. She's excellent in the car, and responds positively to other people. She warms instantly to strangers, and craves affection. She gives lots of kisses, and her front paw instantly comes up if you take a break while petting her. She is easy to handle, although she has not received formal training. She does well on a leash and stern voice commands get her attention. She is alert, attentive and instantly loyal. She is not guard dog material.

Cody #3

Adopted!

Meet our newest pup, Cody. He came from a shelter in Front Royal to his new foster home in Gaithersburg, MD. Cody is about 7 months old, and is very puppy-like in his personality. He will need obedience training and an active person to keep him busy, both mentally and physically. Cody can be very headstrong and persistent, which sometimes gets him into trouble. Cody will only be placed into a home with an experienced shepherd owner, one who will teach him with positive methods. He cannot be placed in a home with small children due to the fact he likes grabbing items out of your hand, whether it's for him or not. So far, he is getting along well with all his foster siblings. Cody will make the right person a wonderful and dedicated companion!

Cody #4

Adopted!

Cody is a 8-month-old, long-haired, male GSD. He is absolutely stunningly gorgeous!!! He needs to put on a few pounds. He needs to be socialized to the big outside world and is a little bit of a scaredy cat with a big bark. He LOVES LOVES LOVES to play!!! He plays with his foster brothers and sisters constantly. He also is very very quick and smart...he is definitely a keeper, however my house is full! Because Cody is so so so so so so so energetic, he will specifically need someone that is looking for a dog to work with, whether it be agility or massive training or frisbee, search and rescue, whatever. He LOVES fetch. Cody needs lots of excercise and needs more exposure to the outside world. Cody needs an experienced GSD handler to help him through the learning curve (and training). DGVA

Coltrane

Adopted!

Hi, Coltrane here (aka Coal Train) but my friends call me Coal. I came to VGSR from a shelter way down in West Virginia. They think I am around 1 and 1/2 years old. I am a very friendly, loving boy and I'm looking for my forever home. It would be great if I could find a family with young children to grow and play with. I have a sensitive tummy so I have to watch what I eat. I don't get on the furniture but I like to lie right by your feet. That way you won't have to far to reach to pet me. My foster family has four other dogs and a kitty cat. I love all of them! My foster mom says I am really smart. CaPVA

Cookie

Adopted!

Cookie got her name because she is tan, black and sweet. Get it? We found her in an animal shelter, where she had been picked up as a stray. Imagine no one looking for this little one! Her long tail and big ears make us believe she is a pure-bred German Shepherd. She is so cute, who cares? Cookie is very smart. She loves her new foster home and loves playing with the other dogs. A very patient foster family is training her for her permanent home. She is learning the crate and where to potty. Cookie is about 4 months old and weighs 30 pounds. VGSR will only adopt her to a family that has time to devote to Cookie and raise her in an appropriate setting. Young dogs will mouth (bite) and chew, so small children can be frightened by this. Cookie is being fostered in Northern Virginia.

Cookie #3

Adopted!

Cookie is a very sweet gal that appreciates everything. She is very friendly and gets along very well with dogs and cats. We have been told she lived with two small children since she was 3 months old and did great. She is gentle Shepherd mix, only weighing 62 lbs. She greets you by sitting, not jumping on you. She has not had any accidents inside. She loves to sleep on doggie beds. For only being 10 months old, she is calm, but also ready for play when you instigate it. She is going to be a very loyal and affectionate gal. She is very attentive and will be easily trained. If you would like to meet her, she will be attending some of the up-coming adoption events in the Northern Virginia area. She is fostered in the Shenandoah Valley area. THVA

Cookie seems to be about 3-4 years old. She was given up by her owner, along with some puppies, because they didn't have time for her. Cookie is small, about 40 pounds, and is now spayed and fully vaccinated. She is house-trained and crate-trained. She has lived with children, but she can be protective of food so children should be supervised around her. She will chase cats that run, but reportedly lived with ferrets in her former home. Cookie is playful, loves to play ball, and is very energetic. She is generally good with other dogs. She will bond closely with her owner and then will be protective and jealous of her owner's attention. Cookie loves bellyrubs and napping with her person. Cookie will be a great dog, but she needs some training from an experienced owner. You can contact her foster home at vadogrescue@aol.com if you have any questions. JBVA

Cooper

Adopted!

Cooper is a handsome young German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix with a glossy red coat and an exceptionally bright and inquisitive mind. Cooper loves to play with balls and toys of all shapes and kinds, and he lives to chase, retrieve, and bring back items you throw for him. He is particularly fond of tennis balls, squeaky toys, and Kongs-on -a-rope, but he will also fetch sticks, stuffed animals, plastic bottles, and just about anything else you can throw and he can carry. Cooper is an extremely affectionate and gentle dog, and he adores belly and back rubs. Most GSDs are quite vocal, but Cooper really likes to talk to you about his day and his feelings about things (such as what he thinks when other dogs steal his toys, or the cats whack him on the nose, or you are reading a book and he would prefer to play fetch or get a belly rub). This little dog is completely charming and captivating, and he is looking for a person who is active, outdoorsy, and possibly has another youngish dog that he can play with. Cooper would also like to attend dog school with his new person to ensure that person knows how to communicate with such an intelligent dog. Finally, Cooper is an excellent agility, flyball, or obedience candidate for anyone interested in participating in canine performance events. WMMD

Courage

Adopted!

Courage is a 4 month-old German Shepherd. This little guy was brought into the shelter with a deep laceration on his rear leg. This guy is super-sweet and is so grateful for any love or care that is given to him. Throughout his ordeal, he has been stoic and courageous, hence his name. He will lick you when his bandage is being changed and is a real gentle boy. He would love a new home where he can get the love and care he so deserves.

Crash

Adopted!

My name is Crash, which means that when I'm sleepy, nothing is going to stop me from taking a nap, even if I have to hide. I'm 10 weeks old, weigh 17 lbs., and am a GSD mix. I'm pretty much a laid-back sort, a Mama's boy, and I like nothing better than a foot, either to sleep on or to chew on. I like my chew toys, lots of bones, digging in the flower beds, and wrestling with my sister Lika (check her out - she's ok for a girl, I guess). I love people, and I'm used to big dogs. I like the cat, too, but I don't like getting whacked, so I keep some space between us and we get along fine. I'm house-trained, and sleep through the night with no accidents. I've been in a crate a couple of times with Lika and bones, but I might not like it by myself. I know what "OUT" and "NO" mean, and I do okay. I also know what "come" means, and I like doing that - it means good stuff like treats and kisses.

Cricket

Adopted!

Cricket is a magnificent, black and silver, long coated female shepherd. Less than a year old, she still has some growing to do. She should weigh about 65 pounds. She is gaining weight and learning new things, thanks to a patient foster mom. Like most young GSDs, Cricket needs a family that will keep her active and stimulated. She wants to keep learning. Cricket is friendly, curious and easily excited. She has a kiss for everyone. You must meet Cricket soon.

Cricket #2

Adopted!

Sweet little Cricket is about 3 1/2 months old, and weighs about 20 lbs. right now. She is on the thin and should start filling out now that she has been wormed. She is crate trained and is making progress toward being housetrained. She lets you know when she needs to go potty by crying. She doesn't like to go into the crate, but once she is inside, she is quiet and sleeps all night. She loves people, dogs and even CATS! Cricket walks well on leash and rides well in the car. She does tend to get car sick right now, but she will hopefully outgrow this problem soon. She has very good house manners for a puppy and is an all-around great little pooch. Cricket is being fostered in WV, but comes to work with her foster mom every day in Sterling VA.

Crystal

Adopted!

Meet our proud little mama, Crystal. She is a beautiful black and red purebred GSD who also happens to be a fabulous mother to 4 adorable newborn pups. She is on the small side, probably only about 55 to 60 lbs, between 2 and 3 years old, has a very sweet personality and is so very grateful to Kim who saved her life by pulling her out of the shelter right before they were going to euthanize her after she gave birth to h
